All three are major pest to honey bees and can wipe out a colony pretty quick. Mites attack from inside the hive, skunks from outside eating bees that taste sweet, and teen age boys cause they a notorius for throwing things at bee hives.

We have a winner!

Edited after catching up on the thread:

Joe - Beautiful birds! Do you think you will have some eggs for the sale in June? HInt, hint, hint....

Ksane, glad you found the info helpful. Yes calling them exotic beetles would get less of "the looks", seriously people want to medicate you when they hear. The hissing roaches sound interesting, I need to figure out if I am alright w/ the higher escape risk, and thank you that is a very kind offer. Trust me when I say the chickens will have absolutely NO problems eating the roaches at all, unless you count the body slamming the other chickens out of the way. If you don't release it soon enough they will jump smooth up and take part of your finger w/ the dubia! I still wear gloves to handle them and have had more then one glove shredded.
Oh and I get my egg flats from a restaurant that used to be a wonder waffle.

It sounds like I'll be pretty popular in the chicken world once I get these bugs raised up lol
I'll let you know how easy or hard these guys are to contain. I had crayfish tanks for years I swear crayfish can teleport right through glass. So I'm expecting it'll be about the same with these big roaches.
I'm going to ask around at restaurants for egg cartons. I always need more for eggs anyway.
Joe, those Orpingtons look like Cochins minus legfeathers. No wonder poeple like them. Do they act like Cochins?

They all sound Beautiful!

Had a good time seeing and talking to everyone at the auction last night. We were pretty exhausted by the time we finished the long drive home.

MJ, I think you were the one that bought the little ceramic hooks last night. There was one on the table after we checked out and everyone was gone, so I snagged it. We'll bring it with us the next time we make it down.

Oops!!
I thought I had put that in the truck. MJ gave me one of them and I forgot to get. Duh!! Thanks for grabbing it for me.

I think Stanley is going to come with me to the auction tonight but Stella is going to stay home. I have the chickens loose and they will not be int the coop before I leave and Stella will keep them safe until I get home tonight. Got to love a good chicken dog. Stanley is still to small to help with guard duty so he gets to come to the auction.

Choa

I find funny, the concept that the mini-dachshund is big enough to be a guard dog but the great dane puppy is too small.

I found 80 12" square egg flats here on BYC for a total of $23 shipped so I was happy about that, that's what most people use for their dubia. The lady who has them's name is Colored Egg Farmer. I think she said she just raised her price to 20 cents per flat. Shipping was like $17.

The folks who run the cafe in my office building are always willing to save the cardboard egg flats for me and although I use them in my incubator (thanks Carla for the idea originally), I usually have more than I need. If anyone can use them, I will have them continue to save the egg crates for me and then pass them along to whomever wants them.

looks like spring prices are already starting to kick in!
lion heads apparently are going to be the rabbit on top again this year. Had my eye on a nice little double maned doe,she went for $22! Not bad for a breeders price but high for auction price! I didn't get her!

sounds like someone's grandchild had their heart set on that particular rabbit and the price wasn't the issue. At least that is why we bring things home at ridiculous prices sometimes
