***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Samantha this was our first time going, we are VERY new to chickens, lol. I'm not a 100% sure how often they hold that auction. It was a hour and 20 mins for us to get there and we got there a few mins. late but didn't miss any of the feather babies and had time to browse the pens.

Nice chick pics everyone!I getting really jealous, can't wait till I get some good broodys going.
It was another beautiful day here.Just can't get over these wonderful Jan days!
Busy day, running errands a nd such. Last week I answered an ad and came home with a gorgeous bluetick coonhound. I took him to the auction and sold him(not by auction but on the side) . Then one of the amish guys who works the sale had registered pommerain pups for sale so I bvought one of those! It was such a gorgeous little fur ball but we really just aren't up to a new baby pup in the house so I put it up for sale and we delivered it this afternoon. Anyway after all was said and done I was $100 ahead so figured I did okay.

Joe those sure are birds to be proud of! I would really like to see some of the other colors the guy has. I didn't know anyone in Okla. had the English orphs. Wasn't Donny going to get some one time. Wonder what ever happened to that boy? Sure miss him,he was nice and always had interesting post. Hope he is alright and still has time for his birds.

Cowboy in answer to your question several pages back(boy this thread moves fast!) about what breed of pigeons I bought. You will proably be ashamed of me but I guess I am reverting back to my childhoodpigeon days. I bought 3 pairs of barn pigeons! But they are pretty ones!lol Lots of color splashes and pieds. I am going to cross those wildly flashy modenas I got together and develop me a good size bird I can let fly and not have to worry a lot if the hawks get afew. I hate looseing high price birds so don't ever fly them but would like something flashy to see around the yard.

Hi all! After a long break... and moving again. I am back online. Sooo... I am trying to catch up on the thread and get re acquainted with you all.

I will re-introduce myself. My name is Angela. I live in Tulsa, in a small lot and we have 4 backyard chickens (we had 6 and lost 2).

My daughters have recently joined 4H, and have picked chickens at their project. So that means we will be at the Stock show in February. I still have no idea what we need to do to get our chickens "show ready". So any links or tips you can share with me would be great.

Nice to say hello again, and hope to meet some of you soon.

Have a blessed evening.

Angela

Guys tip of the Day
If you are taking a high dose of blood thinner like I do, you should never ever use your leg to push your big Asil rooster out of the way when he is romancing one of his hens. And if you are not smart enough to know better than this, be sure to have lots of paper towels handy and be prepared to keep lots of pressure on the hole in your leg for a minimum of 30 minutes.

I am looking for someone(s) to help me build a chicken coop(s)...as raccoon/skunk/coyote proof as possible...within my budget.
I am also looking for free materials on my local FreeCycle.org group but so far no replies.

I live about 8 miles West of Purcell near the Woody Chapel store.
