The address of the Blanchard auction is 2500 S. County Line Rd., Blanchard. It is the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month.

There are other auctions as well, here is a link to all the Oklahoma auctions about which we have information

Thank you for posting that link P&B. I was trying to find it to post here also. Sure do miss seeing you at the auctions lately!

Fortunately, I "subscribe" to the Okie auction thread - otherwise I would never be able to find it when I want it. I suspect that it is many pages down on the auction list, although the post from Poco yesterday to add a new auction may have helped move it up closer to the top.

I don't think I have been to an auction since October. When it gets warmer and I want hatching eggs, I will begin to attend again. Right now, I am in the "what do I really want to keep" mode - not the "what do I need to acquire" mode.

Robin I will try out the wire cutters on my gentle roo first. My other roo will be a 2 person job, he is big & mean. Your baby looks nice & comfy with mom.

P&B have you worked out the big incubator? If so that could be LOTS of birds you could hatch!

Carla I will send you the feed recipe I have as soon as I am on the PC where I have the recipe saved. The goats are all doing great. I let them out of the pen to play & they follow me every where. My sister came out to pick up her kids today & the goats even climb in her car! The act just like puppies. Only down side-- they keep eating my garlic! I didn't fence the garlic since the birds don't touch it, guess I will need to fence it next yr.

I plan on warming up the hatcher tomorrow, so I can make sure I get the temp & humidity right before I need to lock down the Marans. When my sister moved she gave me a big pack of puppy pads, so I am going to put them in the brooder for the first few days. Figure they should work better than paper towels.

Samantha,
If you Google the address, be sure to put in SOUTH County Line Rd., because County line Rd is in a much different location on the North Side of HWY 62 than where it is on the South side of HWY 62 (yes, there is a reason some of us know that little tidbit of information)

I haven't figured out how to easily turn the eggs in the really big incubator, so mainly used the Sportsman and the Hovabator foam incubators last year. I think that this year I will have Carl hatch the "special" eggs like the pheasant and peacock eggs. I didn't have very good luck with them at all and this year I have more varieties of peacocks that should be old enough to lay.

Let us know how the puppy pads work in the brooder. If they work, I might try the bed pads that were left over from a disabled uncle's care.

Do these ark style coops provide enough protection and insulation in the winter? I would like to scrap our coop and make an ark style, but don't want to freeze our chickens out in the winter.
