Beekeeping class was great. I picked out my mesh helmet, veil, gloves, and hive tool. I also received the two hive bodies and miscellaneous hive parts I ordered. I need to install some little metal grommets in the wooden frame pieces before next class. We will assemble our hive boxes and frames as a class. Our instructor said he has special tools and tips to help us build better hive boxes. We'll be gluing joints, too, so it's going to be an all-afternoon activity. We saw some neat video clips about capturing swarms, moving bees, and installing a package of bees. I'm anxious to have a living hive to observe. I think my grand kids will love learning about the queen, her attendants, foragers, nursemaids, guards, etc. I still need to decide where to place my first hive. I expect to add a second hive next year.

What a darling boy! Typical Silkie. My Silkie girls took in the tiny OEGB baby like little champs. Everyone else beat her up.
