***OKIES in the BYC III ***

No chance to mix up. Blue reds are not laying yet, and this pair of brown reds have been together. May have to put them down on the ground. All my brown reds starters came from Charles Conners. I never cross any of my birds except the BB Reds with the blue reds. I need to take a picture of some of my rosecomb, oe crosses. I have some very pretty color. One outstanding BBred cockerel. These will be all second generation cross.

that would be nice to see, I have BB Red Rosecombs headed this way next week. I would like to see the male and female of the cross.
You may check with Charles he may have done something in the past that just snuck back up, it happens sometimes as much as 10 generations down the line.

I may just do that. But Im going to watch this one grow. Might just have a new mutt.

Oh Wayne! Those are the most beautiful quilts in the world!! I LOVE hand made blankets! You said you're bringing them to the June get together for a raffle? Oh mercy, I'm going to have to buy a LOT of raffle tickets.....
Nana, I hope Roger gets to feeling better. I just had that crud going around and it lasted a month. I still don't feel right. I got it the night of the Newcastle auction. Which is odd because one of the birds I got that night brought home the chicken-version of it and it's making the rounds between the birds. Thankfully my Favs didn't get it and my Cochins are away from most the others. I did lose one though, scary.
Sheesh, as far as the Guineas-I've got the 3 boys caught now but it's the dang noisy *girls I want to get given away! I can't see being able to catch the girls, they won't let me within 20'.

I catch my guineas with a net or @ night while they are asleep. If they are free ranging I can catch one. Put it in the cage then everyone else will come over to investigate. I do have one or 2 that seem to give me a harder time than the others.

It's raining here again. I have no idea how much rain we got last night. It doesn't look like a bunch, but enough to keep the animals in & get the moles digging lots of new holes.

Doodle I think those quilts will get ticket sales going! They do look nice.

Yeah!! Babies!!!

Thanks Ksane. This stuff has been going around. Knock on wood, I don't want it.

We've had the plumber in and out today working on our hottub. We had a leak that was draining the tub. He came last week and took out one of the pipe loops that was obviously poorly made and made a replacement. He fixed that one and turned on the heater..another leak from the heat line. Now he's off to the hardware for the right fitting. It will be nice to use the 8' hottub again.

They should be done cooking by sunday or Monday and time to make room again for the next weeks hatch which is a bit bigger.

I just candled the Cochin eggs, you have 6 definetly infertile, 4 that I know are developing and 2 the shell was hard to see through so left them as well. So out of 14 you have 8 still in teh incubator 2 that I question.

Guy,
Of the 70 eggs you brought,
5 of the Ko were infertile all other ko are developing good,
3 of the NN Eggs were infertile.

So you have 62 total developing well at this point.

I move these to the hatcher on feb. 16 so they should be ready for pick-up the 20th.

Outstanding Carl, thanks. I have Doc appointments on the 21st, will that work?

Thanks for all your help Okies, I knew I could count on you. I was just about to put the check in the mail and I think I will hold off. there is a new kid that just bought the place in January and that makes me even more nervous bout using them. Now I will have to look for another incubator source. but thanks again.

Well I aint from Colo. but yep I bought one of them incubators from them fellows from Marlow Okla. This is my experiance and aint saying it is always this way, but sure was with mine. First thing they did was send me a differant style than I ordered. I called them and they told me sure they would make that right, all I had to do was pay shipping both ways. So I told them forget, I would use this one. Set first batch of eggs as per instructions. I would go in and look at it from time to time and it would fluctuate as much as 4 degrees. I called them and told them and they anwsered "no one else has complained". After trying several sets of eggs and throwing 95 percent of the eggs out I called them again and told them I was very unhappy and when I ordered it they said they would stand behind it. They told me they had no other complaints but again if I would pay shipping both ways they would check it out (not replace with the one I ordered). After about my 4th call they stopped talking to me. I guess what I am trying to say is that if Marlow wasnt so far away, I would have drove by and throwed it out in their yard and said good ridance. But again, thats just me and I dont hold no grudge.
