***OKIES in the BYC III ***

aggghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

wemt to the dr. today, he decided i only need shots in my knee. he gives me cortisone, ouch!, said it might take 3-4 days for the shot to work. wellllllllll he might have been wrong! knee hurts about 20 times as bad as it did, he asked if it ever "popped" or "locked up", and it hasnt until after the shot!

i sure hope this isnt the beginning of something bad.

OUCH! Hubby and I both went to the dr 10 years ago, he was having issues with his shoulder and I had fallen and hurt my arm. He got one of those shots in his shoulder. I decided my arm was fine and we left. Needless to say we were back there within 2 hours. I had broken my arm, lol. Hope your knee is feeling better soon.

Our newest fluff has hatched! Carl set 23 eggs for us 19 were hatched as of last night and 2 were still rocking when we took our other 19 home (not holding out alot of home for those 2 but cool if they do hatch). They are so sweet! Got some really rusty colored ones that I am guessing to be Golden Salmon Marans. This time some of our Feather leg Cuckoo Marans hatched, they are adorable!! Going to sell the Black Australorps out of this hatch I think. I can't keep them all.

Oh and a little roo we got from Carl started crowing yesterday for the first time, he is sooooo cute! It is funny to hear him finding his crow. The boys sat down there yesterday crowing at him trying to get him to crow for them. Silly boys!

In the last two years I have seen more Badgers then I have seen in my previous 40+ years. Mom used to tell stories about a single Badger doing a great deal of damage to a pack of Black and Tans that were unfortunate enough to cross it's path while running Coyotes.

And remember not too long ago there was a Couger hit by a car I think around Union City. It was a juvenile male so it had parents.

Yes, we saw a live cougar about 5 miles from the house, running down into a creek, so we are well within her range. Then there was a bobcat killed not more than two miles from our house.

But a badger is certainly a possibility. Still, my gut says if I had a couple more dogs, whatever it was might not have tried to get to my critters, thus sparing both it and my dogs a good deal of trouble. So, I'm still shopping. A friend from the Sustainable Self site suggests an Anatolian/GSD mix. Now THERE'S a dog!

I am sure there has to be! We had 3 (rescues from a neighbor that moved off and left them) and then two weeks ago someone dumped a female on us that was huge pregnant. She now has 8 pups as of yesterday. Now have to find out how long before we can get her fixed and try to find good homes for the pups. But dh mentioned he wanted to keep one

this from the man that doesn't like dogs, lol.

Good morning Okies. Hope you have a wonderful day!! I'm sitting here looking at my eggs wanting to put them in the incubator due to being impatient. But I joined that Easter Hatch along and was told I could wait until Saturday to do that. So I'm trying....

I'm off to Newcastle to apply for a job as a preschool teacher.

Hope I find this place then I'll know how to get to NewCastle on Saturday for the auction. :)

Sorry Artsyrobine, but that's not true. The wildlife dept. has never released ANY cougars in OK. I can't say if they've ever done it in any other state, but I know they haven't in this state. I don't know where people come up with some of this stuff.
They are becoming more frequent in OK, but it's not because they've been released here. There was a collared male killed on the railroad tracks near here a few years ago and he'd been collared in SD. The last signal they'd gotten from the collar was in WY. Samples of the stomach contents were sent back to SD and they were supposed to let the wildlife department know if they could tell if he'd been eating OK deer, but never heard back from them.

I dont know if it is true or not, but i have heard the same thing from several differant folks so I have always figured the wildlife dept did this. You say you know they didnt, how do you know this? Sure not trying to start a CAT fight on here

But if you have proof please share, so those of us that dont know will be able to help clear this up when folks go to talking about this. Thanks

morning folks!! been busy with all the nice weather- course to me anything over 75 is too hot... march and 85?? hate to think we will be stuck with these temps so soon!
had one little one hatch, i had this orphan egg from when olivia was playing the nest box hop- forgetting which one she was brooding- anyway, i rescued this one egg and put it in the bater, looked over the day before yesterday and it had pipped at the wrong end... sheesh, so tucked it uner olivia who i had just moved into the bathroom to make sure she stayed put- this poor little guy was trying to hatch sideways, so i left it but when i went in to check here is what it looked like, no movement so i proceded to 'help' it- well, it was barely breathing and moma hen had crushed the egg, so Dave suggested putting it in the bator over nite- well, other n splay leg, he/she is doing fine, i taped the legs- and gave her back to the hen-

Collared in SD, last heard of in WY and he was here in Oklahoma?? Wow, they've got a bigger territory than the un-neutered Pyrenees I used to rescue. That's kind of unsettling to know they can migrate that far.
