***OKIES in the BYC III ***

It is clumping I planted a 3 foot circle of it around the light pole by the driveway 10 years ago and this is the size it is now I do want to cut it back some and have places to put most of the root sections but will have plenty to share, this isn't the only place I planted it so I have more than enough

For some reason the cane looks a bit washed out in these shots

This is a good pic showing the color and variegation and you can see the shoots coming out of each node or
joint, I am wondering if I can get each one of these offshoots to grow roots if I can I would have a whole hedge
growing on the property line LOL

I would love a little too if I may - Stunning plant there.

joe- here are the chicks- i believe the top 3 are yours? i had another cochin hatch at the same time, so am trying to figure out yours and my friends- am i right on those 3?

and just a fun pic for ya

that is the 7th chick

Bill that stuff is awesome! Now THAT is my kind of plant. Where did you get it? I love it.
I've been checking my incubators humidity and temp with several different gauges that I just bought (for that reason). The 10-egg incubator was reading 97 degrees but the built in thermometer said it was 99.6. I had the humidity way too high also. So that's why my Moderns didn't hatch. The Eco 20's built in thermometer was reading 100.6 when the 3 electronics said it was 98.6. I don't think a degree makes a difference but just in case I'm re-setting it to match the electronic ones since all 3 are reading the same. I always swore I wouldn't be one of those people who got hung up on temperature and humidity. Now look :-/ I want these Laced Cochin eggs to have the best chance to hatch & since they got shipped they need all the help they can get.
The humidity in the Eco 20 is reading 31-32%. I want to try a dry incubation (since I drowned the last batch). Christina, what's your humidity usually at? I think Carl said his was around 50% the 1st 18 days but I can't remember.
I can't believe how much I love these Cochin babies and I haven't even set the eggs yet. I care about my others but something about the big Cochins is above and beyond.

I love this chick lol!!! He looks like he's playing King Kong!

its funny, out of 7 lf cochins there are a couple that are super friendly, and run up to be picked up- and this little guy is just exuberant and won't stay still at all- the all grey one loves just being with her people

Got game I have 1 lone bantam NN chick that I purchased @ atwoods about a month ago. You are more than welcome to it. It is the only bantam size chick I have so it could use a friend or 2.
Mitzi the annual taxes don't ask about your farm tax amounts. It is like farm tags for your truck. Just something extra to help keep farmers a float. Since farming is such a gamble every year.
Been out in the garden. The storm got the best of things. Had tomato plants that were already setting fruit & they are smash to pieces. Lost most of the stuff I had in the ground. Several hundred tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, greenbeans, etc Good thing I started so many extras in jan-feb. Back up plants are going in the ground after lunch. Will be a long day of playing in the dirt.

Big Bummer! At least you have backups.

Mitzi in the Eco we keep it about 40-45 for the humidity if we can. Hatch around 55-60 when we hatch in the Eco. I haven't hatched much in there the past yr since the tiny chick fluff is hard to get out of the fan.

Bill ad me to the list for the plant. It will work great outside my pens.

It is as far as I know and starts at 5:pM from now on they are really on the ball there I got a call the other evening letting me know about the change to the start time that makes twice they've called to relay info that's great customer service not every business will go to those lengths, I haven't decided if I'm going yet or not I haven't anything to sell and shouldn't spend any money at this point but then again it is a poultry sale... I see myself making a statement in my future something like, "Hi, I'm Elwood and I'm a Chicken-Sale-A-Holic"

Pretty sure this is a Jasmine if it's a vine, if it's more like a bush or shrub I have had something like it before but seemed to me to draw flies to the flowers more than butterflies or bees, I have an evergreen that I kinda accidentally transplanted to my place here when I was given some Crape Myrtle and Lilac it has flowers kinda like that also but isn't blooming yet, I like growing flowering vines of different types I haven't started any honeysuckle here but it can real invasive same with morning glory I planted some years ago and haven't been able to kill it off yet LOL I want to grow some different Clementis and more climbing roses if anyone has or will part with seed or starts,

A while back some of you were talking about non-invasive cane or the clumping types I have a type of native cane that is clumping and variegated with white stripes down the leaves the white goes away around June to August at the weather gets hot but is really nice looking, If anyone wants some of it I can dig a few root sections and bring to poops I can also bring some to NEOCS in June but that's about the latest in the year I would try to transplant it, It's better to do that in the cooler times of the year but will survive if you give it some TLC

How tall does it get?
