Pretty sure this is not an Ameraucana. But I'm no expert. What do you guys think? No puffy cheeks like all the others and it has that bright red comb unlike all the others.

My DH went to get some of their favorite treats for Greg to offer and make peace with, but Greg decided to take his own approach (even though I was warning him to wait for my DH and his wife was just watching with a big smirk on her face). So what was his approach...Greg raised his arms over his head and started bounding towards Remy saying, "Chicken! Chicken! Here chickens! Chickens! Chickens!" Keep in mind that Greg is over 6ft tall and about 200lbs and has a rather deep, booming voice. But while this may sound crazy, the hens often WILL respond positively to such ridiculousness and even come over (for treats). This is apparently what Greg was remembering, but Remy was not at all keen on this. As Greg, more or less, flailed towards the flock, Remy snapped; no warnings issued. Like a flaming arrow of doom he launched right at Greg's man parts! Greg didn't know what to do as he stumble-hopped backwards trying to get the homicidal whirlwind out from between his legs. In a valiant effort at extricating himself from the tangle, Greg took a flying, spread-eagle leap backwards. At the apex of his jump, I saw Remy leap once again....and manage to shove his HEAD up Greg's short's pant leg (literally, his whole head up leg in mid-leap). I thought for sure that he'd have Greg by the jewels and methods for explaining such an injury to a doctor ("Well, a rooster pecked my package....") started coming to mind as I took off across the yard to break the battle up. Fortunately, both sides were completely intact, but I had to pick Remy up and head for the run because he would NOT let him move; he just stood right in front of him and crowed and crowed and crowed. He wasn't taking any more of his crap! tongue.png For the rest of the weekend, while he didn't attack, whenever he saw Greg, he started crowing and wouldn't quit until he was out of sight. Greg learned to respect the chickens.



got the broody's moved to the floor in their boxs, looks like i may need to baracade them since one of the other hens actually dragged each one off their nest by their wing!

I've got lots of "stories" about how this or that happened, but that would have been a first for me!!!! lol lol lol

Good evening bycers, all is well at the farm again. The new replacement chicks i got from mj's neighbor jack are doing well, ive hatched out lots of my bantam ameraucanas and the garden is doing even better then expected. Also, i am within days of opening my new store in the choctaw plaza. I am going to be picking veggies first thing in the morning and setting up at the store at 10am if anyone wants to stop by and get some.

Well, maybe maybe not, but based on comb size and leg I would say it's still a pullet

I have squash,zucchini,potatoes,carrots,onions,beets, chard,bok choy,radishes,herb boxes, tomato plants in hangin baskets, chicken,duck,and quail eggs, and lots of pork meat from my pigs.

Lack of puffy cheeks and lack of blue or green legs...definitely not an Ameraucana. But she is a pretty bird!

Hmmm. Notice the other two white ones in the back ground. They have puffy cheeks. One has the brown color coming in and one has just a few black spots but they don't have green legs either. Doesn't really matter to me either way what they are. I just like knowing to know!


So you think it's a pullet?? I heard it was hard to tell with Am's. If I went off body, I'd say my lavender is a pullet but who knows. I'm hoping my black one is a roo.

I'm on my way to look up the SOP for Ameraucana but I'm 99.9% sure green or yellow legs disqualify them. Not that it matters if you're not going to show them. That white chick also looks like it has a single comb and not a pea comb, Ameraucana have pea combs always. My 1st thought was male leghorn or something similar. I'd be really surprised if it was a girl. But I've only had birds for a year so my opinion doesn't count a whole lot.
Is that one of the yellow chicks I gave you? They came from MJ's neighbor, Jack, at the Newcastle auction if it is. He might know something.
