***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Cathy I am sad I missed the convention as well!!
Both girls are on the same level in many areas, I don't have everything ordered yet..... But got my list narrowed down some things I am shopping for used other resale is so high or hard to find that I order new.
We will use the Bible experience -- We will listen to a part everyday & the girls have the bibles to go with the listening -- we will make notes & questions & discuss. No real curriculum just studying the Bible
We will do homeschool band A- flute T- clarinet
Math is going to be chalk dust algebra
Science - apologia biology
Spelling- power spelling
Grammar-- I am thinking Abeka- boring but produces good results-- if the kids protest too much it will be BJU. But in 3rd grade Alexis was testing on 12th grade grammar with Abeka
History-- maybe sonlight-- it's my favorite - I enjoy reading the books with the girls, if not it will be BJU
Literature- sonlight or Abeka
Yes sonlight is suppose to be an all on one curriculum but I do think the kids need some more "structured" parts of their curriculum since we hope to get them to college.
Imagine we will do sewing as well- doubt we will do formal lessons this yr, unless we can do the lessons on the same day as band. I can teach A sewing well but T has multiple melt downs & she pushes my buttons when I try to teach her how to sew!!! She is older now hopefully she will do better, and not give up as easy.
I do like MUS but I havent looked into using it for highschool. I just want to make sure the girls will score will on ACT-- SAT
DH doesn't question curriculum to much any more. He usually just wants to know how much it will cost him.
LOL mine is getting to that point! We like Notgrass for history, you might look at that. I like that it is kind of like Sonlight with the Lit. built into the history but lots of other background to go with it. Matthew used it for World History and American History. Kurt is using the 8th grade history now and will do World History next year. I know all about the button pushing. That is Jack right at this moment, Normally he will do school work no questions asked but today is dragging his feet. He will now be reading to me in the car on the way home from my office he was wasted so much time today, lol.

I think that's just wonderful. Little does your son know that favorites pick US, not the other way around lol!
Your daughter's is darling in that picture.

Yea I think my daughter is pretty darling too but I am just partial.. ha ha ha.. I just cant believe she is 16... but at least she is still way to into horses, chickens and everything else for that matter to even bat her eyes at boys... She still thinks they have cooties.. ha ha ha

We used MFW when we homeschooled :)

Look for a co-op. We joined one in Choctaw last year and it was so much fun. We have done a different one in Del City for 2 years now but now that the one in choctaw is closer that is where we will go. The kids love the classes. What ages are your boys? My younger two are 7 and 10, will be 3rd and 4th grade next year. If you live in Edmond maybe we could get together some time.
I'm near Edmond. Not near enough to send my kids to Oakdale which is literally 2.5 miles from my freaking house, even closer than the crap school we're actually supposed to go to. My boys are four and seven.

I have a maran too that has bubbles coming out of his nose and acts tired. Does any ony know what might be wrong ? I have separated him and have been puting medicine in his water. What else can I do for him

Respiratory illnesses in chickens are bad news. Chickens get respiratory things like people get herpes. They get sick, and then they either die or get well, but once they're well, they are usually carriers for life, depending on the organism. That means they will spread the disease to other chickens in your flock, wild birds they're exposed to, and any other chickens they come in direct contact with, or that you indirectly contact if you don't have scrupulous biosecurity practices. You have several options. You can keep putting meds in his water. You can give him different meds, but without a diagnosis you're shooting blind. You can find a vet that treats chickens. There's one in Wewoka and one in Guthrie, but I'm not sure where you're located. You can go to a pricier avian vet that treats parrots and the like and hope that they will treat the chicken. Neel Animal Hospital in OKC will. Most others will not. It is expensive. You can take the chicken to the OSU Animal Diagnostics lab and they will euthanize the bird and tell you what organism you're dealing with so you can make an informed decision about what to do with the rest of your flock. Depending on the tests run, that can get pricy too. You can cull the rooster now and wait to see if other birds start getting sick. I think that probably covers it.
