LOL mine is getting to that point! We like Notgrass for history, you might look at that. I like that it is kind of like Sonlight with the Lit. built into the history but lots of other background to go with it. Matthew used it for World History and American History. Kurt is using the 8th grade history now and will do World History next year. I know all about the button pushing. That is Jack right at this moment, Normally he will do school work no questions asked but today is dragging his feet. He will now be reading to me in the car on the way home from my office he was wasted so much time today, lol.Cathy I am sad I missed the convention as well!!
Both girls are on the same level in many areas, I don't have everything ordered yet..... But got my list narrowed down some things I am shopping for used other resale is so high or hard to find that I order new.
We will use the Bible experience -- We will listen to a part everyday & the girls have the bibles to go with the listening -- we will make notes & questions & discuss. No real curriculum just studying the Bible
We will do homeschool band A- flute T- clarinet
Math is going to be chalk dust algebra
Science - apologia biology
Spelling- power spelling
Grammar-- I am thinking Abeka- boring but produces good results-- if the kids protest too much it will be BJU. But in 3rd grade Alexis was testing on 12th grade grammar with Abeka
History-- maybe sonlight-- it's my favorite - I enjoy reading the books with the girls, if not it will be BJU
Literature- sonlight or Abeka
Yes sonlight is suppose to be an all on one curriculum but I do think the kids need some more "structured" parts of their curriculum since we hope to get them to college.
Imagine we will do sewing as well- doubt we will do formal lessons this yr, unless we can do the lessons on the same day as band. I can teach A sewing well but T has multiple melt downs & she pushes my buttons when I try to teach her how to sew!!! She is older now hopefully she will do better, and not give up as easy.
I do like MUS but I havent looked into using it for highschool. I just want to make sure the girls will score will on ACT-- SAT
DH doesn't question curriculum to much any more. He usually just wants to know how much it will cost him.
