***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I had a guinea hen with large waddles. The girl that we lost to egg laying it was probably her first egg ever & she was so still in the coop as she tried to pass the egg. After several hours of trying the egg came out & so did her insides. Poor DD was so freaked out.
I say a guinea falls under the title of poultry & If i were to suspect illness i would treat mine same as the chickens. However, guineas never seem to get sick. They are so much more hardy than chickens! Can you see any signs of him being hurt or picked on? I do hope he gets to feeling better.

Oh man. I haven't ever had a guinea get sick either. They've gotten injured early on, like in the first two weeks, because they're fragile and crazy which is not a good combo, but never had one get sick.

Do some coons eat the shells? I have chicken, turkey, duck and geese sitting on nests all over the place with the eggs gone over night. No shells left anywhere. So here's my question.

How big does a snake need to be to empty a goose nest???

I had 3 geese setting on about 10 eggs each that were emptied of their eggs.

I'm talking some BIG eggs there!!! Not just an egg or 2 each night. Each nest was emptied totally in one night. Nothing left, Not even a piece of shell. Nothing I know of could get close to their nests without a fight. Whatever it is would scare the goose off the nest, but not a feather was missing.

If it's a snake, it's a big un. That would make one heck of a belt for Bill, to go with those hat bands.

One animal that would eat 10 goose eggs in one sitting shells and all,

Don't think I'd like to meet it, it would have to be big and bad a** (attitude of course

)

I cant wait told the hubby of the dates and that im on a chicks day out lol. Gonna be a great day. Bad things is us as friends will support aka enable each others habit. Already thought bout trading chicks with you if your in. Plus we can do this while the guys are at work and they will never know!

We live in Newcastle and the storm ( storms were terrible ) . The first storm came thru about 7pm while I was trying to roundup the chickens and guineas so they wouldn't get blown away . I was caught in the barn watching golf ball size hail and winds that almost blew my chicken house away . Finally made it to the house with the help of my husband and golfcart . The second storm was from the north and was worse with higher winds and lots of nickel size hail . Lost alot of large branches on our walnut trees but all the animals survived .

Hope everyone else is ok . Looks like most of folks on the board lucked out and it passed around them .
Looking forward to the Newcastle sale .

Depending on how much skin is missing there may be nothing you can do. He might be in shock. I'd probably start with cleaning him up and putting some sort of triple antibiotic on it.
Heck of a downpour here last night. I tell ya-I'm getting sick of all this rain. It can't just RAIN, it's either a drought or a flood. We never seem to get spring and fall anymore either.

Well I've gone out several times to weed the garden, but still haven't managed to get one weed pulled. The last time I tried the dogs were having a huge fit, we went to investigate and found some kittens, we were only able to get the one so far, a medium haired tuxedo. Gary has been wanting a kitten and I've been stalling, the kitten gods really don't like me much!!!!

I would clean the wound with water as best you can and spray it with BlueCoat.Or rub Honey all over it and wrap it in gauze. May not be much you can do. Sorry! Lynn
