***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Do some coons eat the shells? I have chicken, turkey, duck and geese sitting on nests all over the place with the eggs gone over night. No shells left anywhere. So here's my question.

How big does a snake need to be to empty a goose nest???

I had 3 geese setting on about 10 eggs each that were emptied of their eggs.

I'm talking some BIG eggs there!!! Not just an egg or 2 each night. Each nest was emptied totally in one night. Nothing left, Not even a piece of shell. Nothing I know of could get close to their nests without a fight. Whatever it is would scare the goose off the nest, but not a feather was missing.

If it's a snake, it's a big un. That would make one heck of a belt for Bill, to go with those hat bands.

Tony, that would be one or two big snakes, but I would first guess you may have a Two legged predator stealing eggs!!! Lynn

Depending on how much skin is missing there may be nothing you can do. He might be in shock. I'd probably start with cleaning him up and putting some sort of triple antibiotic on it.
Heck of a downpour here last night. I tell ya-I'm getting sick of all this rain. It can't just RAIN, it's either a drought or a flood. We never seem to get spring and fall anymore either.

I would clean the wound with water as best you can and spray it with BlueCoat.Or rub Honey all over it and wrap it in gauze. May not be much you can do. Sorry! Lynn

Thanks guys. That was my husband posting for me, I just picked this critter up from my sister, missing skin is an understatement. I don't think there is any hope for it. I put antibiotic ointment on a pad and wrapped it in gauze. I hadn't gotten a chance to really look at it till I just got it home. It's missing skin all over it's body. You can see it's shoulder bone and the mucle on the upper leg, it's gonna die, it's just a matter of when, guess me and the girls can disect it tho immediately after, science lesson time.

Lynn - what is bluecoat?

Hey Mitzi - talked to a lady that saw my tortoise on Woodale sunday night. She said it was heading southwest, so probably toward your street, if you don't mind keeping an eye out for it, I'd appreciate it.

I have been since I found out he was missing! Every time I go to town I drive super slow and watch all the ditches. I want so badly to find him for you.
I won't stop looking until you find him, I promise. I told my husband also.

I have a free range rooster that keeps jumping my little dog like a hen. She can't even go out and potty without running from the roo. What do I do ?

Be the pioneer of a new deisgner breed of dog, the chickenpoo :p

Sorry, couldn't help it. I'd fry the roo personally if it's hurting my dog. If it's not hurting her, surely she'll eventually turn on it and it'll learn it's lesson.

Well, another comotion another kitten, this one is orange and white. They are old enough to eat kitten food, so that is a blessing no nicu for kitties.

How big is the dog??? I'd be careful the roo could hurt the dog, put an eye out or worse. I don't know how easy a roo would be to train, like by spraying it w/ water when it comes near the dog, or how attatched you are to the roo, but if you aren't attatched and don't have the time to retrain sounds like time to rehome or ??? the roo.
