Love seeing the little chickie safely evacuating!

Not sure how large the Ninnekah fire is but it is taking toll on my asthma. I can't see the fire but I started wheezing & within 10 minutes I saw the map with flames in Ninnekah, shows it moving towards Chickasha, many miles of open land in the path, and no fire hydrants! Our poor firefighters are all volunteers. Poor guys sure are working hard! Awesome how devoted they are!

On the $1 birds I have been obsessing about the last couple of days...

The company is Fisher's in Bristow. Here is their website:

I watched a video of the birds and it looks more like the beaks are merely trimmed rather than clipped. Here is what clipped looks like (NOT from their farm):

So when I think of the top pic, I feel this bird is severely handicapped for pasture operations. The birds below from Fisher Farm, I could see them pulling at grass or pecking bugs just fine.

Just wanted to clarify as I'm always concerned about giving out bad information.

In 2001, we got our first leghorns from Fisher's in Bristow. We were there to buy feed for our cows and saw a note posted on their bulletin board. The chickens were laying machines, but were so flighty that I haven't wanted white leghorns since.

If you can, get some egg layer feed from Fisher's Mill while you are there. It is the shop on the same side as the road and their chicken feed is cracked grains, rather than the pellets you get from Fisher's Farm across the driveway. We generally buy a few tons at a time, since fuel is so expensive to go to Bristow from OKC.

Oh my God, those fires are scary! I can't imagine. Fires scare me so bad living out here in the boonies.

Could smell the smoke from the Drumright fire on our way back from Tulsa on Cimmaron Turnpike, everyone please stay say. Prayer for all or chicken friends and all those in the fires paths, bless the firefighters all!!! Lynn

Called Fisher Ag today and they said no set date, but for sure in the next week or two. Said to call Monday and they will have a set date.

They said it was 50per contain .. Jcat i think i seen your house a lady calld that livs on 1410 had some roo's to get rid of i would have stopd but it was so hot..
