***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I had a chick doing the same thing. I know everyone has different treatments but I cleaned her eye out with saline wash and applied neosporin for a few days. Cleared it up? Got something out? I have no idea, but it worked.
K thanks I'll have to try that when I get home from work.

Sorry no experience w/ electric netting. But did any more hatch or just the one? Any new updated pics of our grandchick?
Just the one. Little Kassie Blue. She got eyeliner and everything. It's easier for me to post photos on face book so I'll try to get some later. Mama May has had that baby out every single day showing it around and taking on all comers. Even August, the rooster. does nothing more now than peer interestedly at the two of them. When I look out of my window at the pen i see Mama May and this impossibly tiny dark dot moving around her. It's incredibly cute.

Hello!

I am new to the forum and was wondering if anybody in the okc area has some RIR pullets for sale or would want to go in on a order together.

Anybody have contact info for Fred McGhee or Sharon hall found out that's where my cockerel came from would like to see if they had some pullets/hens I could get to go with him. Thanks everyone!

I feel kind of stupid. Looked at my heat lamp and only had a 40 watt bulb in it.
One don't feel stupid we have all made mistakes, two a 40 watt bulb is only a problem if it isn't keeping the brooder warm enough. I have one brooder that it only needs a 60 watt bulb the first week and after that the babies go to a 40 watt bulb. The other 4 brooders use 100 watt bulbs in the beginning because the bulb is farther away from the chicks in those. If your babies are all dog piled up then they are probably cold. But if they are running around the brooder they are probably okay.

Don't beat yourself up, just learn from the experience. I like keeping a thermometer in the brooder box, only thing I don't like doing is cleaning it -- yuck! We use the red 250W, 100W & 60W & change the wattage as needed. When I heard they were going to stop making regular 100W bulbs & only making compact floresent I bought a shopping cart full.

I was so sad today that I didnt have my camera in the car when I saw the flock of turkeys. They didn't mind us being there, I could have taken hundreds of amazing photos. They always play in the road at the same place, and now I want to set up camp with my camera to catch them again. Really was neat to see so many of them just hanging out. Think I have never seen more than a dz before.
Since it is cold & rainy we are having chilli for dinner.
