Managed to get added to the map just now. I was exhausted at 8, came to bed & havent been able to sleep. Hate when that happens! All the animals are put away with plenty of feed & water to stay the day inside tomorrow. Plus I figure we will clean out the fridge for a special treat.
I spent the day calling for bids on getting plumbing roughed in & the ground work done for our house. Right now we are on track for the shell of our house to go up in April, but I guess that all depends on if I can find workers..... I know it will be a long process, so this is the first of many hurdles.

NoCityBoy so glad you have a new trio of birds! I am sure there are the start of many more to come.

Kass when I heard of this I thought of you--- photo contest for 2014 calender, photos must be agricultral in nature

I finally figured it out. You have to sign in to google (free account). Then there will be an edit button that appears. After you click on the edit button, go to the map and click on the blue balloon button in the upper left corner and place your balloon where you are. Then click on the balloon and it will pull up a box to enter your info in. Took me about four tries to figure it all out.
This is how....be sure to zoom in on your location on the map before placing the blue balloon

Been raining here since about 6AM. Suppose to switch to snow around 11. I can see the grass starting to grow already!!!! I am certain my ducks are thrilled to be playing in fresh mud.

Mist started here about 7:30 am. it's sprinkling now. Got cattle and chickens fed and checked water and heat lamps on the chicks. Everyone is tucked in safe and secure. Sure hope we get a good soaking since we are on the edge in Lincoln County. Hope the two cows that are close to delivery wait until tomorrow...sure hate to see newborns in the snow. If one gets chilled before it nurses and mom gets it cleaned off the baby can die. We have a place ready the the barn set up with a heat lamp warming box.

Chicks are hatching in the incubator. The first three were two days early and the others started last evening and are still pipping. Won't open the hatcher until late this evening to remove those that are ready to go into the brooder. Will leave the eggs in the hatcher in case there are a few late babies since these eggs were combined from two incubators.

We have babies everywhere....

In the past 30 min HUGE snowflakes started coming down & the ground is already complelty dusted! Think the weather mans time line is off.
Nana I hope your ladies hold those babies in until tomorrow!

One of Jack's ewes went into labor early this morning. The first lamb followed the ducks into the pond. Didn't know they could swim. Jack went out there and when the little guy got out, he grabbed him and put him under his coat to warm him. The second lamb wasn't delivered yet when we left for DH's Dr.'s appt. The ewes always se to deliver in bad weather.

hey guys, what causes lesions on the inside of a birds throat? Captain, my bantam cochin roo has been shaking his head - checked and down in the throught it seems covered with cottage cheesy stuff.... from i've read maybe fowl pox?

I'm way way behind here but (as you've probably figured out by now) Fowl Pox (wet form) causes that. I lost some birds a year ago this month from the same thing. Then vaccinated the others. Most got the dry form, the wet form seems to kill them. I'll keep reading the thread but I hope Captain's ok. You've had him a long time.

We've decided to sell our show quality black Ameraucana rooster. Anyone here interested before we cart him to auction? Non-aggressive and good to his girls, pure Meredith line, 2 years old. He got beat up by our BCM rooster while we were gone over Christmas but he is better now, still growing his tail back though. We were asking $30 but make me an offer.... we want a blue rooster and have two of his boys in the wings ready to go, so he needs a new home ASAP.

We found out this week that the people we are buying this home from are in legal trouble. They are needing cash fast so are requesting we pay this place off or move in 60 days. So we are moving. We have 58 days to find a place and move. We will be selling birds in case we don't find a place and have to move back to our home in town. We need around 5-10 acres with at least a 3 bedroom home. Mobiles are fine. The kids are heartbroken to give up their pets and we have told them we will find a way to keep what birds we can. Please let me know if you know of a place. Prefer owner finance but will rent if we have to. School dist doesn't mater since we homeschool. Thanks.
Cathy, I'm so very sorry! I don't have the heart to have chicks anymore but I'm certainly in need of hens big or small-preferably big. I ended up with 2 Orp roos I can't seem to place and they don't get along now so each are in their own huge yards but I need girls for them.
If I can help I'll do my best. I could buy the girls and then you could buy them back later if you wanted them back later.

Rinda, Your Ameraucana roo is beautiful. I'll buy your 1 Roo if you'll help me find someone to take my 2 Buff Orpington roos (they're even free) lol
