***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Hi!

I have been off this site for a long time.... but am coming back :). Wanted to reintroduce myself.....

I am Angela. I live in Tulsa, Married, Housewife, mom of 3, homeschooling, and mom of 2 dogs and 1 rabbit. And also keeping busy with our garden. :)

All of our chickens were killed by a stray dog last year, but going to get new chicks in about 3 weeks to start again this spring. We are using the time to rebuild our chicken coop and run.

I look forward to getting to know you all again.
Hi Angela! I'm Amanda & live near Idabel, not in Idabel I live out in the sticks on the river but would not live anywhere else in the world, love it here. Happy you are here. I'm married, going on 9 years now no children yet but I'm sure God's working on that it's His plan we work off of not ours I love that you take the time to homeschooling your children I was home schooled. well we do have 3 dachshunds & some chickens, only 1 hen left we also had neighbor's dog kill our chickens. We put a hot wire around our fence & the dog came the other day & got it

Welcome back Not Super woman!!! Wanted to share with everyone that Idea is having a special TODAY on Brown Leghorns, till supplies run out, they are selling for Str Run @ $1.25 each and Pul @ $1.75 each!!! Not a bad deal for layers!!! Anyways, i am excited to get a chance at some rain/snow for a change, we live in NC OK so they are talking more snow than rain, but we will take any moisture right now! Anyways, i had the pleasure (not!) of dealing with the US Post Office today, shipping a trio of birds to Georgia!!! Shipping was $120 for three standard size birds!!! WOW I was shocked! Glad I didn't sell them with me paying the shipping!!! Monty's mom is continuing to improve, he has expressed his thanks for continued prayers!!!

Single Comb Brown Leghorns, which lay white eggs, are the second best known variety of Leghorns. They originated in Italy, and are the most colorful of all breeds. Males have black tails, orange-red heads, lustrous deep orange back, and saddle feathers. The female's head is lustrous deep orange, and the front of the neck and breast are a rich salmon color. The remainder of the body is a combination of black and brown shades.

Fed the girls strawberries today as they were $1.25 at the store. I figured that wasn't much to spend for a few minutes of chicken, turkey, and duck happiness. They were all red raced and wanting more.

They didn't last as long as melons or cabbage heads do but they love them.

Up potted tomatoes and the squash today. This is the second up potting for the squash. I really started them too early, but gosh darn it, if I wait until it's warm enough to start them outside, the bugs eat them all or it gets too hot to set fruit and I end up with nothing. They are in big pots in my living room now. The trip to carry everything to the greenhouse every day is starting to take longer and longer. Have WAY too many tomato plants too but hubby says we're going to join a couple of farmers markets just to sell plants for now. We'll see how that comes out ...

Still sick. My head cold has turned into a sinus infection ... ugh ugh ugh. Besides not being able to breathe I can't hear because my ears are so stopped up. EVeryone sounds like they are speaking gibberish to me.

Baby turkeys have taken to eating sprouted grains really well ... so much so that they've already figured out to beg from anyone who comes near their pen. We don't raise no spoiled birds around here ... HA!

Erin just hold onto those extra plants. Last yr I lost hundreds in a hail storm-- back up plants are a good thing! Also to sell them at market it will be a lot of headache. You have to get your nursery license & your sales tax permit in addition to whatever else your local market wants. You can take them to the chicken auction & not have to worry about any of that & sale them all at once! That would be my vote.

I finally figured it out. You have to sign in to google (free account). Then there will be an edit button that appears. After you click on the edit button, go to the map and click on the blue balloon button in the upper left corner and place your balloon where you are. Then click on the balloon and it will pull up a box to enter your info in. Took me about four tries to figure it all out.
