Its happened every day for the last three days. My c chickens would like to go out, maybe tomorrow

bought this girl today was in hopes she laied blue eggs but unforutanly she dose not oh well at least she is still pretty.

her egg is on the right. polish egg on the left.

Hope all is fun at the sale...and lots do sales/purchases.

Poor calf Sunshine has a swollen back leg and is now having some difficulty walking, although she was up and down several times today. Her leg is not broken, but is swollen all the way from the hock to her ankle. She can't win for losing. Guessing she was stepped on by one of the other expectant cows. Good news is she is sucking the bottle better each feeding and only had to be tubed for her medication for the last feeding tonight. We're going to try putting her on the mom in the morning.

Picking up more hatched chicks tomorrow and have two incubators with hatches due on the 14th and 21st. Babies, babies and more babies...filling the brooders.

Evening all! Tried old man here. Had a great day at the auction today. And unusal for me I ended up bring home several purchases. Got a pretty pair of Golden Duckwing Dutch, two pair of Wellsummer bantams, a pair of Le Fleche bantams, and a pair of Brown Leghorn bantams. Got good deals on all of mine which was fortunate because stuff was sky high! Plain old production red hens were bringing $15-20! Nice purebreds like silver laced wyandottes, and austrolopes were $21-29 each! I have never seen hens sell like that around here! Turkeys were average around $45-50 each, saw reds, palms, narangasettes, blacks, and my first lavenders, they were really pretty. Any way was pleased with the new birds now to start building pens again! Found out friday the sale is off on our place so we don't have to move again. Happy but sad at the same time. But ready to get back to my gardening and bird hobbys!
Then this afternoon got to see our one and only granddaughter all prissied up for her first prom! Predjuice but she was stunning! But must admit to a few tears when I thought of her in a tee shirt and ball cap holding my finger and toddling around the farm with me! Love the young lady she is now but sure miss my shadow!

I have a question. I have 8 week old chicks and am about to get some that are hatching tomorrow. When can I introduce the new babies to the flock?

Newcastle sale will still be going for a few hours. Had a long day so we are heading home now. Spent more time talking about poops then paying attention to the auction. I only tried to bid in one thing... Speckled Sussex eggs. DH caught me so I had to tap out early. Oh well. Not sure what I would have done with them anyways!
Nana awesome to hear all is going well in cattle country tonight.
Hope everyone else is having a great weekend!

Hi everyone. I didn't even know this thread existed until now so here I am to say howdy. Anyway, I only have 2 little bantam mixed breed hens (possibly cochin/buff brahma) and then a lot of quail. Currently I have 11 adult jumbo brown coturnix, 1 adult male Texas A&M coturnix, 7 baby jumbo browns (3 days old), and more eggs in the incubator. Does anyone else from around here raise quail? I'd be interested in trading eggs and recipes sometime if so.

Once your new ones are full feathered you may be able to integrate the 2 batches, we usually do around 10wks. I just make sure my little ones have enough space to escape the bigger ones since there is always a little drama establishing the pecking order.
