***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Robin - So sorry to hear about your losses. Sounds like your birds had a good, long life with you.

Kass - I've got three white leghorn cockerels for a "C" session. I need to work most of this week to finish clearing out my HS classroom and planning work in my MS classroom, so maybe we can meet the week of May 27th.

Graduation was wonderful last night. I was happy to have a chance, after the closing remarks, to hug most of my students and wish them well. Those I couldn't find, I assumed, rushed away to celebrations right after the mortar boards were tossed. A student who changed schools at mid year tugged at my heart the most, and when the tears came, I let them. Moments like that help put the past year in perspective.

Yep, we have totally switched to fodder finally. It took some tweaking to get everything going the ay we wanted but it works well now, just need to automate it. We can have the goats but I don't have the room right now. I love goats milk cheese so I'm still pushing for a way to do it. We are setting up an aquaponic system this month with a 250 gallon tank and 100 fish. We'll see how well that works.
Wow
I am going to get things next week to start fodder for my flock. Where would be the best place to get the wheat?

We get ours in 50 lb sacks from a coop for $9. We also mix oats (50# - $11) and BOSS in and are going to add field peas next month when I can get some. We spend about $1 a day for our total feed bill for 16 turkeys, 20 chickens, 4 rabbits w 3 babies, and 6 ducks. They also get some extra stuff from table scraps, pecans, and the garden or really cheap produce. Look around at different coops though. They're all run by different people so prices vary. Don't use horse oats from like TS or Atwoods because they are sprayed with a germicide to keep them from sprouting.

Mitzi thanks for the offer of eggs. I am sure you already know Taron would love to hatch any & all eggs! However we are now NPIP so I "think" all eggs have to come from NPIP flocks. I need to research it more, but honestly don't have time.

BFrancis look forward to seeing what you bring tonight, but I seriously don't need anymore birds, so I will do my best to fight the temptation!

Coral awesome to hear about the art position... Just think about all those papers you don't have to grade now!

I added it up & spent 8 hours yesterday shoppin for house supplies or on the road to & from home. I found some awesome deals at Normans Habitat for Humanity. Saved over $2000 on my tub & kids vanity. After all the shopping I did I still need to go back today for more stuff!

Looks like we won't make it to Newcastle tonight for the auction from the looks of our day. If things work out, I'll try to be there. We have calves popping today....already had one and it looks like three more may come today.

If not, I need Modernman's address so I can mail a cash donation for the Jr. Poultry Benefit. Or at least his phone number if anyone has it so I can call to get an address.

Cool I'll check my schedule but bet we can figure out a day that week. I have several I should be able to tell are male by then. I think the EE for sure I will be able to tell the boys, the NN give me more trouble w/ gender id.

Looks like we aren't going to make it to NewCastle tonight. I really wanted to go but my blood pressure is way up. Base Pharmacy took two weeks to get my meds. refilled. Dr was thinking I didn't need such a strong prescription since I am not teaching now so he had me taking 1/2 snd I was a lot better. But i ran out and obviously I can't quit all together.
