Grandkids have gone to visit their great grandma, so it's quiet around here now.
Disappointing day yesterday. I found out that my Silver Laced Polish is a roo when he started baby crowing. That is my favorite bird of all the ones I have. He sits on my arm and shoulder, and has the sweetest personality I've ever seen in a chicken. Since I can't have roosters he too will have to find a loving home. Don't know if I'm quite cut out for chicken raising since I get so attached to them so easily, and the thought of getting rid of some just breaks my heart.
My plans for what I want to breed has come along slowly, but it looks like it is finally coming together. Sold my Black Cochins today, so that opened up a pen for my Orpingtons. Now I don't have to wait till I get my new pen done. When it is finished I will probably seperate my Black Roo. with my Blue Hen and my Blue cockerel with my Black hen.
Neat Hobbit House. I like the idea of having a natural earth berm as a house wall. Great concept. I wonder if we have too much rock on our property to do the same. We have a hill tall enough to accommodate a two-story house with one floor below ground level. If anyone else looks at the house and has pictures, please post them. I'd like to see more of this kind of house. We toured the earth ships in Taos, NM, a few years ago. DH didn't like the rammed earth/tire wall concept. He's more of a concrete kind of guy.
