***OKIES in the BYC III ***

It's 105 in the shade here!!! And the wind is like an oven.
Finished putting the chicken wire on the pen today. Started early and took lots of water breaks. both to drink and to spray the ground around the pens. Two of the teens had escaped the pen this morning....don't know how long they were out. But they were really ready to get back in and get a drink! They shouldn't be able to get out again. We keep buckets of water out for the dogs, but the two little girls hadn't found that.
This evening hubby has a sleep study at the hospital so when he leaves at 6:50 should be cool enough for me to put up some more cloth for shade. I think I will cover the whole top...will help deter owls as well as offer shade.

My hubby has a gps in his head...I swear he can look at a map one time and remember all the details...drives me nuts.

what are they bringing we are planning a trip to Marys Flea Market with abunch of the game pullets we have

My father (is) and gma (was) like that that gps in the head. My father has been all over the US and you can call him from across country and ask him directions to a place he hasn't been in 20 years and he can basically get you there. He has done it several times w/ different family and friends. I didn't inherit this ability!

Don't worry, we know that if you want him to know what you said, you will tell him yourself

He finally made it here! Loaded up 77 young turkeys and 2 frizzle chickens and headed back home (I hope)

I told him to get back on I-44 and follow it East.

Gerald isn't good with directions either

But now he has a GPS feature on his new smart phone. I just hope he can figure out how to use that smart phone

Good! That's a relief. Now I don't have to worry about him anymore.

It's just too hot out there to be lost or broke down somewhere today.

I have to worry about my dear husband every time he has to go anywhere new. I usually print out a map in large print with detailed directions, compliments of Google or Mapquest. :)

Oh, by the way ... I added a couple of frizzle chickens with the turkeys for you to give to your Grandaughter :)

Home from the Newcastle auction. We had fun visiting with NocityBoy, Carla, Gerald, Modernman, and Michael Daugherty. I acquired some young Saipan Jungle Fowl that Modernman brought to the auction and some hatching eggs from the flocks of Carla/Gerald and MG's neighbor, Jack. I am going to check out the new incubator

The pen got another 16 foot shade section. Then I noticed Angel out in the run. She is my blind hen who never gets off the roost. She has her own food and water containers available. There are a couple of young birds that were old enough to add to the flock but they have been giving her challenge for those feeding stations. I sat in a chair and hand fed her while the others got to free range outside the coop/run. She drank almost a cup of water....took her an hour. It was finally cooling off outside and the clouds were building, the martins were soaring, nice.
