***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Ksane, mottled do that become more mottled after each molt, especially the first real adult molt, those that show try and show before that molt since they get more white mottled into them which especially for the houdans isn't a good thing generally.

Same with bantam Cochins - some show well as pullets/cockerels then get too much white as an adult, others don't have enough white as pullets/cockerels but get a good pattern after their first molt. if I understand Mottled Cochin patterning right the hen that showed in Shawnee had great type but her white spots were too big. - I really need to get an SOP.

They are right 2 months old now and I would say that they are kind of quite compared to most fowl I have been around.

Wait til the word gets out about them. Most people don't know what they are (I know I didn't). Easy to overlook because of their color but when you really look at them they're gorgeous little birds. I really don't know why more people don't have them.

Well that's certainly interesting, Kass. So she was mottled all along and I just didn't know it? I'd have never in a million years found a mottled LF Cochin if I'd been looking for one. I got her at Poco's Muskogee meet June 2012 along with a huge Brown Red Cochin boy. I have a big Brown Red Cochin boy out of those 2 (the one I call Lillith). That'd be awesome if Lillith developed white spots over his Brown/Red color. Well, good. I'm relieved it's not a sign of some sickness while she was molting. I started feeding fermented grain at the same time she started her molt. It crossed my mind that had something to do with it and that I'd broken her lol

Back from the vet with 15 head of young heifers that got their shots, brucellosis vac and weighing. Sure are going to be some nice replacement heifers. And then a trip to Choctaw to bring the last two pairs of cows/calves home for the winter. Roger is out washing out the trailer. Let the chickens out to freerange and they all ran to see what he was doing and if he was going to have anything for them to nibble. I scattered scratch to keep them out of his way...so the tide of feather butts turned at the call of chick chick!. Gathered 5 Delaware Bantam eggs today from the six girls...they are beginning to lay again! And picked up 7 eggs from the CW, BCW, and Black Birchen in the room with Beau. The incubator will begin to fill up soon as I get the breed pens set up.

Passed a few mins ago bless it's heart) I have been doing sugar water/vitamins along with some of the feed mashed up. This second chick doesn't look too bad and was fine when I purchase, or what it seemed like.

Ooooooooo! Rinda!! Love the photos! LOVE your beautiful birds! I must have some SFH as soon as you start breeding them! I just love your breeds! Thank you for sharing! As far as breeder list from the show I won't be needing it. I will wait when I don't have to call each on the list to ask what they breed. Lol!
