***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Sorry!

I am watching.... if only for the commercials. Some are just so awesome they make me cry.

Great snow out there for us. Made way west to our pasture in Tuttle to get eyes on a 2 day old calf. Lots of stupid on the roads out there.....

But here is the boy! We call him Double Spot.

His mama is doing a great job keeping him healthy.
Wish I were as good a chicken mom.....
He's so adorable. Why are all babies just so precious? I've never met u but by your posts, I'd have to say you're an excellent chicken mama. It's like when I was raising my kids, they didn;t come with a book and about every book I read seemed to have a different opinion.

Stay warm.

I don't think the "@" thing works with my iPad, I know it does with my Android and Windows. I'll give it a shot anyway.

@Bardies-that's a beautiful calf! I've bottle raised 2 calves over the years and they just don't tame up like goats and sheep even if they're bottle fed.

@Jeansrie, I got 9 in my hatch of Sizzles out of 10 eggs. However I did lose 3 so only have 6 left. Some of mine are straight feathered & a few have straight (black) combs. Not sure what's up with that. I did get a single Black Frizzle and a Blue Partridge Sizzle who are beautiful. They all have black skin and 5 toes with heavy feathered legs. There was a straight comb in the woodpile somewhere though.

@Kassaundra and @Poco Pollo, My husband just got one of those Keurig coffee makers and OMG it makes the most awesome coffee! In seconds! So I thought for the Capon Clinic I could bring it and a huge variety of different varieties of their coffees. Each little K-cup makes a 14 ounce cup and there's tons of flavors. I'll bring honey for sweetener (way better than sugar) and some artificial sweetener and cream also. You can't tell me a bunch of Okie women hopped up on caffeine can't chop off a bit of rooster manhood :)

Quick question, if you pick out a trio to breed, and they have been in a flock, how long do you have to wait to make sure the eggs are fertilized by the rooster you picked to breed with them to make sure he is the father and not another rooster.

Thanks

So adorable, great spots!

The auction was fun!.....very amusing too... I got that one blrw young roo (14)... Then was second bidder on the really nice blrw pairs - I stopped at 29 and they went for 30, the best three were taken. I declined second pick. They went for auction again and got all the way up to 40$!
So I was good - came back with a young roo that I have been looking for... some peanut butter balls and strawberries.
Great seeing you guys!
Did you see the peacocks go? 115+ish each....
It was nice to see you!! I was not surprised the BLRW went so high.. They were beautiful birds.
I did not bring anything home but chocolate covered cheese cake.. Just did not have anything I really wanted or needed.

Hi Everybody,

The Checota auction (Friday night) was bigger but smaller than I expected... I expected more buyers. I think I always expect more buyers. Anyway, it was inside the new Ag facility at Checotah High School. The seats (stands???) were constructed for rubber teenagers, not "real" people. Next time I'm taking my padded lawn chair. Shelbydog, the coffee was excellent. Thank you. I'm bringing piggies in a blanket to our next auction. Dennis, Donna, and a bunch of other Okies were there. I think we need to have a secret handshake, hand signal, or greeting. Don't you?

Mr. Corzier said he expected to see more baby chicks and hatching eggs next month. I didn't buy anything. I've got baby chicks in my basement brooder for the capon clinic in March. No new birds for me

Shelbydog and Kyzmette, your baby girls can stay until they are fully feathered. They're doing great. I'll be splitting the group into two brooders next weekend. The barred rock babies seem to grow faster than the rest.
When is the next auction in Checota and what time does it start?

Sorry!

I have heard 30 days...

Oh no, Muesky, Guthrie has school also. And I'm not about to let my teenaged son drive in this stuff. Out here where we live the roads are pretty bad. So that means *I get to get out in this stuff in the morning to take him to school. But it beats something happening to him. Guthrie won't cancel school for anything. I have no idea why.

That calf is ADORABLE!!!

Coral, thanks so much for taking care of my babies. I'm so excited to be getting Minorcas! Let me know how you want their upkeep reimbursed. Cash, crumble or peanut butter fudge, I'm sure we can find agreeable terms.
