- on the "old" chick

Now you have posted so many cute NN chicks pics that I am helpless to resist and I need, I say NEED, to hatch some of my own.
Anybody have NN eggs?
If you are coming to the Newcastle auction - I don't know if my girls are currently laying - but they are in a separate pen now... you can have any I collect between now and then if you want.

One NN from the dark, dark eggs hatched while I was in OKC today. 50 teachers and three administrators from our district went to the education rally at the Capitol. 25,000 people were in attendance. We froze in the morning and broiled in the afternoon. I do NOT miss riding on school busses. Next time we have an event like this, I'll drive myself. Yuck, yuck, yuck, yuck!

Captain America was there. He was pointing at me to come have a picture taken with him. I was behind the camera, though. I'm happier that way.

And in we go. After the rally, teachers and administrators went into the Capitol building to visit with our representatives. Long lines. Grouchy faces on those who tend to vote against education. Glad hands and big smiles from those who vote for education. I hope we made a difference.

Oklahoma doesn't accept 49th place from their teams. Why do we accept 49th place from our spending on students and consequently 49th place in student performance.

Hehe cute story Coral!

Oh my goodness cuteness over load when I opened the incubator just now- a whole tray full of chicks, including a bunch of silkies! These are just mixed color silkies but they are so stinkin' cute!! One thing I noticed right away on at least one chick, there are extra digits, or at least extra toenails?!?! I'm talking not the regular 5-toed, it has 7 toenails on one foot, two of which are growing off the side of one toe! The other foot is normal. Guess it is a "special" chick!

Will take some pictures tomorrow!! This whole batch is for sale, I have some better quality, color-specific ones hatching right before easter. I need these babies gone before those ones hatch! $6 each or 3/$15
I will be wanting some silkies. I'll be watching out for your post tomorrow!

I have had an interesting time today moving big chicks here and medium chicks there, big cochin to the coop finally and the cockerel to a crate for the evening for his first time. He's NOT happy with me. Moving all those bigger chicks around made me look at them and the ones I can totally tell are cockerels now are needing a new home. I will be selling them. I am in no way firm on my price for them so offers are considered if anyone wants any. Even if you want them for the stew pot (just don't tell me). These will be some really nice birds! I'm asking $10 each but like I said, I will consider other offers. Breeds
6 week old hatched Feb. 13th (and HUGE)
4 Light Sussex
2 Olive egger (Possibly 3)
1 (maybe 2) Sweedish Flower Hen (from a line in Arkansas, one is a blue and brown feathered, no crest.)
4 week old (I think around there)
2 Barnevelder (from Rinda's line. These are very nice quality... but they are boys. My luck the only 2 I get and they are male. Lol!) Still not fully feathered but on their way.

So anyway I thought I would offer them to you all first. I will be taking them to the auction this coming weekend in Nowata if no one wants them. If anyone wants any pictures I can get those to you. Oh my goodness I have way too many babies. I let all the 6 week olds out in a pen for awhile and I had to count 23 in all! Just carrying 10 in the box I couldn't believe how much they weigh already! Yup. Too many and I need the room for the others to grow.

Did I catch somewhere that POOPS is being scheduled?

@hotcurltr he looks so good! I'm sure you're taking fantastic care of him. I remember a couple of times where the girls would be laying and he'd be down on his belly, head in the nesting box... I never knew what he was doing until today. I sure miss him, but he'll have a great home with you.
He hates being caged up. He crows at the other two roos constantly and when he hears the hens singing their egg song he really goes nuts. POOR GUY. He isn't eating good for me and I'm afraid he'll lose weight. He eats the dry better than the fermented, so maybe u should give me your fermented recipe. I havem't checked yet tonight to see if he ate much of the fermented. He does love haveing a roost in there and room to move aroumd.

Anyone near Okulmogee? My husband took a job in Okulmogee and we bought a camper for him to stay in somewhere close. We spent sometime today driving around and I didn't see a single chicken. Weird?
I live in the Dewar/Henryett area. There are a lot of chickens around. probably just hiding. Is he looking for a place to park his camper? We have a concrete slabe that used to have elec, sewer and everything, but it was all taken out. When my daughter comes w/ hers we string an electic cord over. I don't know what you're ;looling for so let me know. We have a lot next door that the house has been torn down but all the water and elctric is still there to be set up again. We just don't use it. W have been fencing it litle by little and letting the goats eat the brush.

Showgirl roo I just got from Ksane was a bit too big to go in with the paint silkies - neither roo would back down. So, he now has two girls of his own - both reg nn frizzles. I had told Cheyenne about your cool sizzle - so we will see. They (the girls) are not thrilled to be in a pen - but he is courting them as a gentleman. He is picking up pieces of stuff and dropping it for them, breaking up larger leaves into smaller bits for them. The dark one has paid attention a few times, but not for long. They just need to settle in - but the roo is doing well. He is actually larger than the smaller one. So, a big boy! Standard sized, I'd guess.

Here are some pics: This grey bird is a silkie/blue laced red Wyandotte cross.

These two are frizzle kids of the two frizzles I put with the showgirl. Their dad is the (splash) blue laced red Wyandotte.

Here is the showgirl next to the frizzle hens. They are together now in a shady area.

Sorry it is on its side, doh!

And..... couldn't help it. Our latest heifer, born the 29th - solid gold.
Cuteness overload. I need some NN Frizzles

Hi Everyone!!! Been busy, busy the last couple of weeks.
Sorry if I missed some of the new people on the thread, kind of did a speed through to get caught up..
So I have been selling turkey eggs because the girls are laying like gang busters and I have been getting really good prices on my eggs.. I noticed several of my hens disappeared, but my peacock ratted them out and I found three hens sitting on two nest of over 30 eggs. I am going to let them hatch the eggs. If anyone is interested in Bourbon Red turkey poults they should be done cooking in about three weeks.....
Working on moving and reorganizing the chicken yard, which is why I have not been on in a while. I rarely do anything half way and when I put the wire over the top of the yard I got a little zealous.. Took two days to get it all down...

Hope everyone is doing great! Love the chick pics..

Welcome to the amazing world of chicken addiction!! Hi my name is Rebecca and I have up-teen chickens and other poultry...

I have a couple that lay that size. I feel sorry for them...

I have a toulouse/pilgrim cross and he will sometimes let me hold him like that...
Oh my goodness u have been busy. How did I miss all the newbies? I remember welcoming them.. I'm really getting a bad case of ICRS. Most all my geese let me hold them. There are a couple, but they'll come around. I AM STILL LOOKING FOR FEMALE GEESE. PEOPLE. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF ANY OF U KNOW WHERE I CAN GET SOME RESONABLE.Glad to read your posts. I love your hehehe.

CORAL-- Looks like another tiring day for you/ I hope everyone made a difference, and a good one .
I need to shut down and go back to bed/ I think I have another infection in the leg. Two year fighting this. As I've said before I'm grateful I still have it though(the leg. Not the infection)

I have an appt. w/ the wound Dr. on Thursday, but I think I'll call him tom. I won't go to emergency. Too many babies to take care off. They always hook me up to IV antibiotics. Guess they need more money. Ha ha.

Did I catch somewhere that POOPS is being scheduled?

We have a meeting location with shady trees and lots of space (custom coop display lot in Tahlaquah). Porta Potties will be set up so nobody has to go hunting for a restroom. June 14th, the second Saturday in June, is the date.

I now have two babies in the hatcher. One is not a NN
barnie.gif
. I know these are project eggs, but the seller indicated that I'd get all NN chicks. They will be moved to a brooder tonight. Looks like more may hatch, so I can't risk compromising the humidity level by opening the hatcher yet.
