***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Tea Tree oil helps relieve the itching from the rash... it is the main ingredient in those Poison Ivy relief soaps. You can get it at the pharmacy. A few drops mixed with a peasized dollop of coconut oil can be applied to the skin and the coconut oil helps it be absorbed.

Thought I would add this....I keep Coconut oil in the kitchen for cooking, etc. It is used for massage therapy also. I get it at Walmart in the oil section.
Tea Tree oil costs about $10 for a 1 ounce bottle, but it lasts a long time.
You can use a few drops in your bath water too.

Robyn...may have to put the chicks in the shelter and she should either go in or call them out, but she will explore it too.

Kyzmette...toss some colored marbles in the little water bowl. The keets should investigate and find water too.

Well, lost four baby chicks in the pen with the two Biddies...two were outside the tub and two were actually inside. Several other chicks were wet, but snuggled with the moms in the fresh dry hay I put in there. An hour later they are dry and doing great.
We had some wet feed in the juvenile feeder, so I dumped it on the ground to replace it and the juvies went after it like it was a new treat...opportunistic eaters!

They go crazy over the nipple waterer! But I'm pretty sure some of them just never took to it, and those died early. Then I think some of them forgot how to use it, and those died later. Then I'm pretty sure one had a broken neck from the way they run all over each other. And it's possible that one is at the bottom of the pile each night, and that's the rest of the ones that die.

How in the world did God make a creature so infernally dumb?!?!?! It's like He elbowed the Holy Ghost in the ribs and said "Hey, watch this..."

Poco Pollo. My son Cole wanted to tell your grandson Rafeal he said hi! He had so much fun playing with him. He is also excited to tell him we are getting a few SFH hatching eggs too.

well, mama and aunty have all the babies under shelter, one of last years guineas has become aunty- she hops the fence in the morning and helps care for the babies-

i find with guineas, don't treat them the way you would a chicken- they do group think, never tried them on any waterers but the little red ones, and never lost a home raised keet- feed, they love fermented feed, the flock all gets some at nite, the rest the time they scrounge all those luscious bugs and grains- i think maybe i'd hold off on the nipple waterer for the first few weeks

Robin, I heard you have to start them from the first couple of days on the nipple waterer, because if you start them later they don't figure it out and die of thirst.

I'm going to design a new waterer for them to take their "unique" personalities into account.

I've heard there is one brain for all the guineas in the world and they share it
