***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Hi, my name is Kelly and I have a chicken addiction.

And I would have taken those brahmas and rocks in a heartbeat if Mitzi hadn't been lurking like a pirahna! As if anybody here could say the words "I have a female chicken I don't want" and NOT get a response. Those words in this group is like walking out amidst the flock with the treat bucket... if you're not careful we'll snap a finger off!

Pffffttt! Some of us have to be quick on the trigger or the DORKINGS and BLUE AMERAUCANA hens will get snatched up before we can get our greedy hands on them  Ya gotta be up at midnight to get the good deals on the BYC board :lau

If you are interested I am selling some of my Buff Rock and Light Brahma girls. They are two months old, came from the Murray McMurray hatchery, and have had their Marek vaccination and have been fed medicated feed since I got them. They have also been exposed to dirt while being fed the feed. I'm a first time chicken mom and well, they were so tiny to start with and now I believe I have too many for the space I have :)

I'm in the Agra/Tryon area.

Sorry to all the folks with poison ivy - it is a horrid thing to have! There is a vaccine you can get (just ask your doctor about it) to help prevent problems for those severely allergic. My niece gets one every spring.

Does anyone know of any swaps going on in the Stillwater area? Or somewhere within a half hours drive in either direction? I am going to have to find new homes for up to 10 of my girls.
The Guy rose auctions is every sat in stillwater/perkens they sell chickens there
Oh Lord, you are doing me a huge favor!!! Thank you :) I'm not all that far from Pops, maybe 30-40 minutes and know exactly how to get there :) Yes, I'm 99.9% certain they are all females. If any turn out not to be I would happily take it back. Shoulda bought a roo in that breed and don't know why I didn't!

When would you want to take possession of them? I can deliver them any time!
My freind has a litght brahma roo she brought it to poops but be got there kind of late and no one was intrested in him.

I wanted to mention, that if anyone is in need of fowl, be it Chickens, Turkeys, or Guineas, that I've now had two very fair dealings with a fellow up in Westville, OK, and wanted to pass on, that he's a good guy to deal with.
Sean Clark, of Clark Farms LLC., made me a fair deal on 5 brown leghorn hens, and a rooster, at the Cherokee Birds Spring Fling. Through my inexperience, and ignorance, we lost four of the hens, and the rooster, in the first four days. The fifth hen, is still with us, and thriving, but only producing about three eggs per week. A week or so later, a neighbor sold us a nice pair of Australorp hens, and GORGEOUS rooster.
This past Saturday, I called Sean, to see if he had any layers he wanted to sell, and he said that he had some. My wife, grandson and I, went up to his farm, and he made us an awesome deal, on two Roos, and 13 hens. This time, I had a properly ventilated cage, and was able to transport them, for the long drive home, without stressing them. They all seem to fit in well.
The Rose Comb RIR Roo, seems content to play second fiddle to the Australorp Roo. But the little Bantam White Leghorn, is a quick little troublemaker. Not in a bad sense, but, he gets his business done with a hen, whenever the Australorp Roo is busy with another. If the Australorp comes after him, he's so small, he gets away easily, and shortly later the Australorp Roo, is happily on to another "task".
They all are fitting in our flock well, no fighting, just some posturing, between the Bantie Leghorn and the Australorp. Otherwise, all is peaceful, in our coop.
Back to the point. If you're in East, or Northeastern Oklahoma, and are in need of birds, Sean is a good guy to deal with, and very helpful, in giving needed information. He even has some fairly exotic breed chickens, too.

Lost Timmy overnite, from what i read, secondary infections are what are the issue with chigger infestations- such a sweet boy. Lost one of the keets and another isn't looking good, giving them crumble broth about every half hour- looks like a hard week dang it

I am trying to ID some weeds, bushes, vines, and trees to see what I have for the new rabbits for wild forage. Anyone know what these are.

Weed one, you can see the sap is milky, this stuff is everywhere.

Weed 2 This weed also has milky sap, long tap root

Weed 3, this one gets huge, clear sap

Weed 4, is this plantain that has gone to seed?

Weed 5, airy foliage and flowers

tree 1 This one is a tree, they pop up everywhere

Tree 2, or maybe big bush hard to tell, is it elderberry? It kinda reminds me of my Gma's elderberry, when it was blooming very fragrent

Evil vine 1, hate this crap, big hateful thorns grows like crazy, leaves are a bit thicker then normal.

Weed 6, everywhere

They will be eternally grateful for the ID's

Haha! Those pictures are undoubtedly taken the day the coop and run were built. If you could see the "after" picture it'd be a whole 'nother story. Here's the Google link to ghetto chicken coops. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time at some of the ideas people come up with for coops, you've gotta admire the dedication and imagination. It'll make you feel much better about your yard :)

These are great! The broke down car coops are my favorite! And yes, I certainly feel better about my setups. :)
