***OKIES in the BYC III ***

No snow here yet. Let the birds out this morning for a few hours of free ranging...most nibbled and then scurried back inside. Decided to go ahead and run all back in their pens before the snow hits.

Erinszoo...a friend of mine had a tick bite back in 1990 and has fought the symptoms of Lyme's disease ever since. Rocky Mountain Spotted fever has many of the same symptoms. Glad you checked with a doctor. Too bad we can't take guineas with us on camping trips.

Snowing pretty hard here, though small flakes and a bit of wind. The snow now covers much of the ground. Thankfully it isn't supposed to last very long.

Frozen drizzle here, but it's 37F, so I doubt we'll see anything close to what's happening in northern Oklahoma.

The older Penedesenca hens I bought at auction last month are molting. I thought they looked ragged when I bought them, but I was mistaken. One has permenantly curled feet, so I have been massaging them each day to encourage her to stretch her toes. I hope to have both hens in good condition by spring.

My students are studying Surrealism and the artwork of Salvador Dali. We're using the beach Dali painted in Persistence of Memory as inspiration. The rest is up to students to discover. I have been working on an example in class (modeling what they are supposed to be doing). My green snowman on the beach needs to discover something in his wooden pail. Any suggestions?

It's a couple inches deep here, already. Three suggestions for your pail.... Oscar the Grouch first came to mind, but then it's Dali, so maybe a nose... except it's Dali, and a snowman, so maybe a carrot.

How about a bottle of sun tan lotion? (My original thought was a bottle of wine, then I remembered the ages of your students) lol

Noses and suntan lotion are strong possibilities. The scene behind the snowman needs a lot of work as well. I've under painted a ship with two raccoon crewmen. One steers while the other flies (unsuccessfully) a kite. I need to put oddities in the water, perhaps something climbing up the side of the ship. The unpainted hulk lower left is an elephant bird. She is sunbathing. The finished painting may not include the sunbather. I'm thinking about crabs with wings instead, or penguins wearing heavy coats. I should think about including a soft clock... maybe a soft IPhone with a clock showing on its face. Hmmmm......

Paint one of those I-watches into the sun, the band dripping down into golden ripples on the water.

Over an inch after the big fluffy snow flakes started falling.
Birdies are snug in their coops.

We are having steamed veggies, roast quail in cranberry juice and baked potatoes for dinner....sure smells good in the house.

We have been picking out pecans most of today. Had to break down and buy cracked pecans in Earslboro....YIKES ..$20 for 5 pound bag of cracked papershell pecans and 2 pounds was shell. Stillwater has them for $7 a pound cracked and blown...so less work picking them out.
Sure like the taste of the oil in the natives so much better...We have 35 native trees on the farm and only two had pecans this year...the squirrels and crows beat us to them while I was out of pocket with surgery.
