I have been in touch with our code enforcement officer, and our city manager, and it seems they are both pro chicken! I was told I got the notice because a new neighbor had observed the chickens while with the code enforcement officer, so he felt he should contact me. He told me he won't be driving around to see if I got rid of the chickens, so for the time being, they're safe. I was strongly encouraged to go to the city counsel and see what I could do about getting code changed... that's why I need to find something fairly straightforward that I can present to them that they can vote on quickly. Hopefully, we're about to start a chicken epidemic in town.![]()
Whatever you do, don't use the words "chicken epidemic" when you try to convince them. They'll probably go straight to "bird flu" and get the torches and pitchforks! Maybe chickenpalooza, or flockfest. Positive spin!

Good advice. I'm just going to keep it as low key as possible and get my girls safe. Wouldn't it be great if they didn't put a limit on the number I could have?![]()
I have been finding most cities/towns in Ok have their codes online. Shawnee is the only one I've found right now that allows chickens. Any one else from a town that allows chickens that I might look at their codes?
Thanks!
