***OKIES in the BYC III ***

So, went to the Newcastle Auction last night. Got a beautiful BLRW pullet from MJ. My wife and daughter named Her Jasmine. Thanks again MJ. Spent the whole night being over bid for the birds I wanted. They actually had a couole of Jubilee Orpingtons but didn't get them. I tried and tried all night to get a coupoe of Blue Opingtons but kept losing out. I finally got two wonderful girls at about midnight. They are named Elsa and Anna. The previous owner said they are bread and one goes broody so maybe we can get a couple more out of them soon. Will need to get me a ne Opington Roo for the girls now.

Kyzmette, that girls head looks horrible, hope you are able to get her fixed up.

Sooner M not sure about the gender but given the size would probably think girl. I think w/ gender telling on the barred chickens the females will have more precise barring if there are any feathers not w/ the correct barring pattern it is almost surely a boy, hopefully barred lovers will correct me if I am misleading you accidentally.

Hearts4, glad your night ended in success.

Thought I'd share pics of my recent rosettes on my La Pass quilt, these aren't done yet but I was posting progress pics on another site and thought I'd share here too while I was at it.

Well day one. I started the chicken tractor. I'm in over my head now lol!
I'm between Yukon and Mustang technically Okc in a place we just moved in.
There sure is a lot here in BYC. Probably gonna need some advice as I get onboard. It's been 30 yrs since I raised chickens and it was nothing as fancy as what I see here.
This is what I accomplished today:
Made the side open for cleaning and the back for access to the nesting box area.

How are all our OKIES? There are a few who haven't been on in a great while,.... some a short while...hope everyone is catching up on all the projects put off by the rainy month of May.
We still want to know how ya'll are doing and see photos....besides the friendly banter, this thread is nothing without pictures.

So here is Miranda with her 24 adopted chicks out teaching them the acts of life...
Foraging for food Sharing treats with the flock

and dust bathing.

That is so cute, especially them all bathing!
I got some amazing Silkie and Showgirl chicks from Jeansrie and my Blue Showgirl took the 3 youngest without hesitation.
Hens are so amazing.
