***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I hope everyone's birds are doing well in this cold

so far the orps don't mind it at all except for the wind lol all my other birds are spoiled lol and are enjoying life inside a nice and warm green house. the Old English game bantams must think it is spring because they are really starting to lay

should have lots of fluffy butt babys soon
Mine are doing great. I put some petroleum jelly on my rooster's comb last night and I'm really glad I did. My Buff Brahma momma is loving this cold weather though!! I think she's the least affected by it all. Spoiled birds are good birds and a green house sounds amazing! Glad your OEGBs are laying. :) Fluffy babies are nice to look at lol

For winter insulation use cardboard or layers of your feed sacks. You can paint it with white latex to brighten the inside.

We had 220 electric problems a few days ago...no water until a temporary fix helped. The electrician came yesterday and repaired the breaker box...all is good now.

The chickens were happy to get out each day as the weather dropped....even today. Tubs of water were frozen solid this morning. Found four birds on top of one of the small outside coops when I was locking up tonight at dark. Moved each down inside their building to the roost. Egg production is up in the hen house while down in the outside pens as I expected. So far no frostbite.

my partridge rock hen Zola is loving the cold weather ! while the bantams are in the coop, Zola is out running around the big open run area, eating what bugs there may be , loving the open area. happy holidays everyone!

Hello fellow Okie's!

I've looked at this site for almost a year but joined tonight. We got our first chicks in March. They are Buff Orpington. They are just farm girls that give us great eggs.

We bought our first breeders last weekend at the Shawnee show to start really showing next year. They are Black Wyandotte Bantams. They are currently in my laundry room becuase it's so cold. Oh, they get up at 4:30am!!

I look forward to learning many new things this year.

Hello and welcome! :) Sounds like you got a good bunch on your hands.

I have my first run-in with the feed directive today. I was looking for a poultry vet in Rogers County. That was a big fat fail! Only one is and only if he has too! I'm now looking for one in All of Oklahoma? Apparently, I will have to drive to Stillwater to get meds, if the vet doesn't keep it in-house anyway. Any help would be appreciated.
