Thanks! Thats just a few of the darks. Also have blue & chocolate.

I love their tail wags! A few of them are so friendly they'll nibble my fingers when i reach down to pet them.

Kass, I hope you'll feel better soon. Here's hoping it doesn't get worse.
I'd love to have a Serama. They look to be about the size of a pigeon!

Well, I have started losing chickens this week. I guess the heat is wearing them down. I've lost a few hens, a rooster and some juvies.
On a side note, found out I got bit by one of those elusive reclusive spiders that carries a fiddle on its back. DW bugged me til I went to the doc today.
He didn't tell me anything I didn't already know but I did get some antibiotics.
Glad you guys have been carrying on the chat. Hopefully I can join in more soon.

The algae is a toxic Syno bacteria often referred to as Toxic blue green algae. When the Army Corps of Engineers put in the dam on the neighbors property several decades ago, the waters that filled the lake must have been contaminated with runoff from a sewage treatment plant somewhere back up stream. This bacteria grows in human waste lagoons. After Eddie won his lawsuit in the Supreme Court, the US Fish and Wildlife Services works with the local conservation district commission here in the state and the Army Corps of Engineers put in the agitations system. The EPA and DEQ monitor the system and Eddie calls them in when something goes wrong with the system or when he sees evidence of a bloom. The algae messes with the cows liver and they die...he lost 40 head. A man named John Burns has written a book about the algae. It's been found in several other states and has actually killed people. So far, there isn't anything that will kill the algae.

We have most of our calves in the spring (late Feb - mid April) and have about 10 of our herd that calve in the fall. This year, about 15 cows bred back late so we have been having calves in May, June and July. Had a baby born last night...makes 6 this month. We have 8 more to calve. We have sold some older cows and replaced them with nice Angus heifers. About half of those we will hold back for fall calvers. The spring calvers and their calves are on leases in Paden and Prague and on property we own in Prague and at the MIL's in Choctaw. Everything else is here on the farm/ranch.

hey guys i seen this on the fayetville craigslist and i remembered some of you were looking for seebies ... so i thought i would post the info for you

Sale or Trade Sebastopol Geese (Eureka springs, AR)

I am selling my flock of 13 Sebastopol geese. I will take $40 each or $500 for the flock. I won't separate the flock. I will take partial trades for young hair sheep.

They are healthy and happy and gave me lots of eggs this spring to sell on eBay. The only reason I'm selling them is because I'm going to focus on my Pilgrim geese.

Would love to trade for hair sheep, young ewes and a ram, Katahdin /Dorper preferred.

Got six eggs today. Guess my girls got tired of waiting for it to cool off and decided to lay anyway.

Monty, Sorry to hear about you lost birds and the spider bite.
Jack's brother got Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Ticks are still terrible this year but the lack of water seems to have kept the mosquito population down. If there is any silver lining to this heat.
