So we took each of the chickens swimming in our pool today. They were free ranging and we had the one that swam in the pool, so we put her in to cool off and she just floated, until one of my children came up and she flapped and got out. So we put each on in, one by one. All of them sat there on my hand loving it. All but two were able to get out on their own (which I am glad, hopefully wont ever have a drowned chicken in the pool). After they looked horrible, but they were preaning and fluffing and running around and it was around 2pm, when it is the hottest! I hadnt seen them this active in months! We may have to do that once a day lol. Not sure how good the clorine is, oh and an hour later we got several eggs.
Does anyone know a rain dance? Maybe the ducks could do one for us. I really wish we could get some relief from this heat. I thought one of my teen birds had drowned today in the dog water dish that's in the pen. Turns out he was just sleeping. He was completely submerged in the water, except for his head, which was resting on the side of the bowl. The water was quite warm (ambient temperature), but it must have felt better than being dry. He was a grouch when I scooped him out. I really thought he was a goner.
Robin - How is the fungus situation? I remember years ago when our dog got a nail fungus. It took antibiotics to clear it up. It was some really stubborn stuff.
Well we went to the auction in Harrah. Not many birds. They put everything outside on the East side of the building so at least there was shade. Bid on a cage didn't get it. Didn't buy anything and came home.
Kronk has been smoking meat for a family gig tomorrow. He is ready to hit the water hole and then head deep into the cave.
Unfortunatly Krank says he has to clean the kitchen first.
