I am certainly not an expert, but I have been told that if you can keep your tomato plants alive they should set on and ripen some fall tomatoes.

Last year we had fall tomatoes until november. We were out picking them with a flashlight due to the predicition of frost that evening, bet our neighbors thought we looked a little crazy. The tomatoes ripened over the next few weeks. The will last longer if you cut the limbs the are growing on and hand them still attached to the limbs to finish ripening.

Wow where are all the early birds this morning! I was up till 300 this morning, granny watching. Its sad but funny the way their minds work. She kept trying leave because she had to pick up her kids,I told her they would be alright and she said no they were just little kids, barely ten inches!lol
Be out and fed and watered this morning and cut the first basket of grass for the g.pigs. Going to be hot but severe storms later this afternoon.
My pigeons are settling in their lofts good. Have a whole bunch of babys in the nest.Wish chickens were as easy to raise as pigeons and pigeons were as prolific as chickens! The last crop of mottled OE are showing a lot of bright red combs!Oh well I wanted to try dubbing again this fall anyway. Looks like I will have a lot of roos to pratice on.

Didn't get the raccoon trap set properly last night, and the one apparently brought its family. They got the bait in the trap and six show silkies, including my gorgeous Mihalik splash roo; his daughter, a beautiful splash showgirl--my only one--and three other beautiful hens. The showgirl is the sister to the one I sold Doc's wife. If you get splash showgirls out of her, I'll probably want to buy one or two back. We were out early this morning repairing the hole they developed from the outer pen to the one the got the silkies out of. That opened up the entire complex to pretty easy access. We'll set the trap properly tonight as well as put Shiloh on the long chain in front of the pen. Hopefully, Buddy will stay nearby and they'll keep the coons away. Just sick this morning.

Put 18 guinea eggs and 14 silkie eggs in the bator this morning from the stripped pens. A hen began brooding the silkie eggs a few days ago. Doubt anything will hatch--haven't gotten any from that pen this year. The roo may have been a bit too old, and I hadn't been gathering any of the eggs.

Called a neighbor to see if I could borrow a couple more traps, but he'd just come in from setting them to catch his own raccoons. He's had a lot of losses from them this season.

Left Breast in the muscle, stay at least 1/2 inch from teh breast bone, and 1/4 inch deep. If you place the needle just under the skin the Meds. will leak back out before being absorbed into the body.

Betsy, if there are any roosters that I got from you that you need, I could probably spare several of them. I've also got chicks from some of them, but I don't know what's great quality and what isn't. I have several black, splash and either porcelain or lavendar chicks that are looking good, at least they're beautiful to me. I'd be happy to give them to you to help you replace what you've lost.

You need some dogs like mine. They sleep all day and work all night protecting our acreage. My Komondors are 2 years old now, and my Pyrenees are 3 years old, so I need to raise some pups soon, may even consider crossing my Komondor male with my Pyrenees female, since she doesn't like my male Pyrenees.
