***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I have noticed a lot of crows around our area lately. I have started feeding my chickens inside of their coops to hopefully deter any crows hanging around in the pens.
I want the crows around here. They do a great job of keeping the many hawks away that like my birds so well.

A funny site last week. There was a hawk trying to grab a squirrel out of a tree, and the squirrel was trying to chase the hawk out of his tree.

I'm almost sure the hawk would have won the fight, but the crows came to the squirrels rescue and chased the hawk away.

The bird/s think it's spring this morning the warm south wind blowing in ...All the roo's are crowing extra loud an the hen's are singing..Need rain it's sure dry..

30% chance for rain today. The wind is fierce. I think our house will blow away if the wind doesn't quit soon.

Kendall is hanging in there. She's still on the CPAP, but at least the doctors are sure they are treating with the right antibiotic. Thanks, everyone, for thinking of this special little girl.

The Shawnee show is next Weekend at the Shawnee Expo Center Dec 7-9. Friday is coop in, Saturday the Show and Sunday is awards and coop out. Coop out is always over fast.

Last year a bunch of us got together to eat at Abuelita's Mexican restaurant on Hwy 177 close to the Expo Center.
We probably had close to 30 show up for lunch on Saturday.
Al will be coming and asked if we were going to do that again.
Is there some interest? We can set a time and show up like we did last year.
I am trying to catch up on all the posts we are still without internet at home. I would love to meet up with others if Matthew doesn't have a game that day. He is in a tournament this weekend so not sure what game times are. Nathanael is begging to go to the show so I hope to take him Friday some time to see the birds.

We have a lot of crows too. They chase away hawks and don't hang out by the pens. DH puts corn out for them across the yard. The sparrows like the chicken food and water.

Poco praying for your little one and her momma. NICU is a scarey place but they have the best nurses ever my Nathanael spent his fair share of time in the NICU and we had the best nurses.

Emach, praying for your sister. Maybe this will be the wake up call she is needing to get her life back on track.

Christina!!! So glad to hear from you!!! Please update us when you can. You are an amazingly strong woman but let everyone take care of you for just a bit.

Nathanael is sick right now he isn't running a fever just complaining of a headache so he goes for lab work today. No fever is good but it always scares me when he starts to feel bad.

We lost another bird yesterday it was my other lavender orpington

pullet. So now I have two roos. I am going to have to find a few pullets for them. We haven't been to the auctions lately just burned out I guess. I have treated the entire farm with denagaurd even though none of the birds we lost had symptoms of resp. stuff I wanted to be sure so we did a 3 day treatment for everyone and yet we still lost another bird. I am adding redcell to all the waterers twice a week as well but not sure that will help. Also lost my FBCM roo he was beautiful! So now his 9 girls are without a man so need to find a good quality FBCM roo. That is what I get for selling all of my mine and not keeping a spare in reserve. We are debating not letting the birds out to freerange for a while at least until it freezes again. They have plenty of room in their enclosed pens and I could cover the top of those with tarps to help keep droppings from wild birds out. But then what do I do with the full time free rangers and guineas they can't be penned up full time I would go nuts and so would they, lol.

Well off to get some work done we moved into out new offices last week and they are lovely!!! Love the new space!
