A few weeks ago I started getting some extra brown eggs.

With nothing better to do, I placed them in the incubator. Last night they exploded.

Now they look like this.

Great hatch too - That's 23 hatched out of 24 eggs. About half are NNs.

I have more extra eggs again. What can I do now?

Should I even ask?

Love it!! Wish I could get that hatch rate. So far I'm two for 24. Turkey's now in the new incubator we got for Christmas.

Hey all! Didn't realize I hadn't been on in quite so long. I've had the flu pretty bad and am finally feeling alive again. I'm now the poster child for getting a flu shot BEFORE you get the flu ... because I didn't get one and it was not fun. I ran a fever of 104 for the first two days, passed out, ended up with bronchitis, and 3 weeks later I'm still sleeping propped up on pillows.

Hope everyone's doing better than me and had a great Christmas and Happy New Year.

We got a new incubator with an automatic egg turner which currently has 8 turkey eggs in it. We have a whole bunch of turkey eggs waiting to go in after this batch comes out so hopefully we'll get a bator full before too long.

Oh Erin! Hope your recovery speeds up & you get to feeling 100% soon.
Love the NN babies. Y'all make me miss having chicks, but I will continue to resist the temptation.

How's Ari doing?

Hey girl how is it going... Adjusting to the North Country, feel pretty blessed .. When one thinks of NY they usually have NYC come to mind.. where we are its very agriculture and I couldnt be more happy.. We are 26 miles south of the Canadian Border and even though we live rural things are pretty much a quick hop skip and jump to get to any thing...

I used to live "up state" and my memories and what I think of NY is the mosquitoes that can be saddled and ridden and the wild berries.

I would walk up our rural road picking berries and putting them in my shirt (like making a bowl w/ my shirt tail) wild raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries.

Hey, jcat, Mike D and others, Grady Phelan was in town this week. We had dinner with him, Erin, and Ralph at a mutual friends a couple of nights ago. He seems to be doing very well and enjoying his winter down time. On his way to Africa right now.

Hope y'all are doing well!

I've got the flu now. Got it from DH. Mostly it is like a very bad cold. Had two days off and was hoping to get a lot of chicken stuff done. At least i didn't miss work but don't know if I will feel up to going back tomorrow.

MJ sorry the flu bug got you. I am willing to do anything to keep the flu away.
Buster glad to hear Grady is doing well. Someone was asking about poultry netting on here this wk. was thinking you experimented with it but couldn't remember.
Mike helped us thin out our flock last night. Taron only kept her true favorites. Why do we need 6 Roos??? She has an argument for the importance of each one. I am shocked she gave up as many birds as she did. I think she is making room for new spring favorites.

I am looking forward to Spring too.
Apparently my birds are too. More girls are laying or at least checking out the nest boxes.
