Good morning friends and neighbors! The weather guessers are calling for sunshine and a high of 65°F :) Gotta love a day like that in January!
I hope y`all have a great weekend!

I have a question i don't know if any of you will know the answer but i though i would ask. If you have a Easter egger hen and bred it to a roo that is some other breed will the resulting off spring still have blue/green colored eggs?

Picked up my greenfire farm box from the post office an hour ago. Had 3 male rhodebar chicks & 10 females. Sad to report 2 male chicks were DOA & the 3rd boy was very chilled & barley hanging on. We warmed all of them as quick as we could & they have all eaten & drank. I hope the boy pulls through, this is one time where I was really looking forward to having a few extra roos-- I prefer them over the hens. I have been wanting these chicks since GFF announced them as new arrivals, I will be so sad if I loose even more of them.
The boys got a skunk last night. There was so much barking, Taron got out of bed & caught them in action. Sure hope DH makes it home early enough to set some traps.

Anyone have big plans for the weekend? We are going to enjoy the sunshine. Both of the girls are going to friends & I am going to try to make the auction - if Taron is home from her friends.

Its going to depend how strong the roos genes are. I have kept a few a few dz EE that have had different dads & think only 1 hen didn't lay a colored egg. If you need an EE roo I promise there are plenty on here that would offer you one. We just had rooster reduction at our place or I would offer you a few to pick from.

The hen dosn't belong to me she belongs to my daughters friend. We went over to her house the other day and my daughter just loved the color of the egg she layed and wanted to hatch it but we told her to weight till it was a bit warmer and we get our older chicks out of the brooder before we try to hatch some and ask her friend for at lest half a dozen but they have a mixed flock. one rooster is all white a leghorn maybe and the other is black and red almost looks like a marans but not sure what it is lol. then it got to thinking what if we hatched some and they didn't lay colored eggs so i thought i would ask. i'm not sure how an EE is going to do with our flock of polish eather i hope they will get along i was thinking of seeing if there were any bantam EE out there because they might be better fit for our flock.

here is a photo of the egg culprit lol it is actually an olive color could it be from an olive egger instead of an ee i don't know what the diffrence is.

Your best bet for colored egg genes for the offspring is if both parents have colored egg genes, but it is possible just not a sure thing w/ one parent. As far as tempermant, my EE are very easy to get along w/ other chickens and people too. When I've added new chickens into my flock of EE I have never had the drama and blood letting others have had w/ aggressive flock mates.

So, it's been a... umm... while since I last saw this site and I do hope I am forgiven for that...

Any ways... How's everyone doing lately?
