Big, fuffy birds like Brahmas (sp), Orpingtons and Standard Cochins are very sweet and mellow. I heard that since they are so big and fluffy they are slow to get away so they just accept the attention from people.![]()
Thanks for the suggestions. Making mental notes.x3
I picked my Cochins for their temperment. I just love them. I have Ameraucanas and La Fleche too. The Ameraucanas are somewhat friendly and the La Fleche are very shy but are so beautiful...... my Cochins were my first choice and I love them more and more.

they have bloomed at your place, the environment is doing them good! Love that the little cockerel is getting friendly- he has sure gotten big!Robin - I may be able to work with your boys this weekend. I have stressed about the pens in the barn, and the potential for drafts (though it seems okay), so I've been waiting for warmer days and nights. The barred Cochin talked up a storm when I added hay to the dog crate tonight. Sounded like he was telling me I wasn't putting enough in. He used to bite me, when he first came to visit, but now he's a forearm sitter. I have a feeling he will mellow quite a bit more after the change.

i forgot to tell what kind breed is leghorns r good lay eggs in wyandottes in like if wan't big eggs minorcas in naked necks lay pretty good or silkiesI'm so new to this that I'm not sure. I have a black australorp right now and she is a doll. I love that she has so much personality. I've heard they are great layers as well. Haven't gotten to that part yet.
I kind of want some different colors but still friendly personalities.
I'm sure I am being way too picky. Lol
I love my Chanteclers. They are calm, lay in cold weather, and talk, talk, talk, talk. The roosters do well with other roosters. I haven't had any problems with aggression in this breed.Robin is that ee roo out of some of my eggs? He is sure pretty. Those broodys make a great pot of fluff!lol
Coral that white rooster is awesome. Have you been pleased with the outcome of the chantecleers? Spelling bad tonight, sorry!lol If they all are as nice as that one they must make a beautiful flock!
