***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Thanks I wonder why they don't sell the plants in the stores in fall then?

I know you can order them online in the fall through a few wholesalers. The main reason for planting them in the fall is to ensure you get a big spring harvest the first season. I think you don't find them in the fall locally for the same reason you don't find fall garlic. I can grow mad amounts of garlic if I plant in the fall. Try it in the spring & no harvest at all.

I will hopefully remember to get them this fall, I just don't think about them much until I see them in the store b/c I have NEVER had success w/ strawberries. I have made a couple of gardening mistakes in the past that I am actively working on correcting one is to "do it like my Gma did" who was a wonderful woman, but she was from Maine and always thought that the Maine way was the best, even in Oklahoma, the other is believing the packaging when it says "full sun" I have learned they don't mean the OK "full sun"!!!!! lol lol lol

Hi!

I have been off this site for a long time.... but am coming back :). Wanted to reintroduce myself.....

I am Angela. I live in Tulsa, Married, Housewife, mom of 3, homeschooling, and mom of 2 dogs and 1 rabbit. And also keeping busy with our garden. :)

All of our chickens were killed by a stray dog last year, but going to get new chicks in about 3 weeks to start again this spring. We are using the time to rebuild our chicken coop and run.

I look forward to getting to know you all again.

Welcome back Superwoman. What kind of chicks are you getting?

I've got a lot of garden/yard work planned for today, let's see how much of it I can actually finish. lol Removing grass roots from an 80 foot fence line (both sides so that is 160 feet), planting garlic in that 300ish feet of raspberries I already planted, putting wood chip mulch on that fence row once the grass roots are removed, finish weeding the bed I started on it's got about another 40 feet or so to go.

I tried listening to my duck eggs last night, but couldn't hear anything yet. They still have 2 wks until hatch, so hope next wk I will be able to hear them.
Seen the weather is showing 70% chance of precipitation with chance for an inch of slush tomorrow night. I have been begging for rain, but not not snow or ice.

I want to get Buff Orphingtons and Astrolorps. I would love Lavendar Orphingtons but not sure where I can get some....

You sound like me in the garden today.... We are planting peas, potatoes, onions, and then clearing out the corner of the back yard to make way for the new chicken run.

And I can not forget to make dinner.... haha....

Happy gardening!!

Welcome back. I'm sure there are several people here who can help you fill those coops and you may want to check the Tulsa thread as well.
