***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Good layer of snow today on everything. The roads are too warm though so it didn't stick to them, yeah!! The birds hated it and stood inside their coop staring at it. The few that ventured out didn't stay long. Talk about miserable feathered friends. Realized today that if the hatch goes well, we'll have 19 baby turkeys this time next week. Yikes! I'll have two brooders in the dining room. Hope the guy who said he wanted some still wants some. Made some chicken chili, watched the snow and wrote on my book some more. Deadlines coming up soon.

Mitzi I will keep that in mind if I have to sell everyone. I have 2 EE girls, a blue andelusion girl and 3 black star girls that would be fine for a BO roo or two. They are in with my spare lavender orp roo now and love him to pieces.

The one bird I am mostly worried about is Mr. Red. he is Nathanael's favorite bird and the one that got him started in birds. He is so sweet to Nathanael and the best little man. He is a BBR OEGB I am sure he isn't show quality but loves his boy. We have always said we would have to burry Nathanael when that bird dies because they are two peas in a pod. I am going to have him bring him in the house for a while to see if maybe he can be happy being a house bird. I know we can't have a roo in the town of Wellston if we have to move back to town.
There is a vet here in OK that has posted his success in decrowing roos surgically, have you read in any of his thread?

He has actually made several tools for the job and has reported an excellent success rate.

I will search for those. We will bring Mr. Red in this weekend after I go through the boys room and get rid of all the toys they don't play with anymore. They have two shelves of toys they just don't use anymore so I can get those out of there and put a crate with Mr. Red and maybe two of his girls in there. I am going to call city hall this week and see what they say about chickens. Kurt wants to keep his silkies and duccles and Jack wants to keep a pair of his bantam brahmas. We have little A-frame tractors so that would work. We have a large lot in town so they wouldn't even take up a portion of the yard.

There is also the old Chandler Dayz grounds. There are RV spots and a big pavillion with electric. It is right across 66 from the fairgrounds down a side road. But the fair building itself would be better because your totally inside that way. Lots of room to park and outside covered areas as well.

I do not know if Stroud would be too far east for some people for the get together....

But have you checked into Autry Ranch?

I know they do things like birthday parties and camps.... I do not know their facilities.... but have heard great things about them. They might be willing to host us all for a day.

We too are clearing out of school / play room. We have so many books and toys that just sit on the shelf. We have two large bookshelves and two smaller) So what I am doing is organizing each shelf so all the books for 1 grade level have their own shelf.... then they toys will be moved to the smaller book shelves. That way we can make room for the brooder that we need to set up in there in 2 weeks. We also have a bunny residing in their right now. We adopted him last Friday, and he is a longer haired bunny, and was so matted up I had to give him a hair cut. I couldn't be mean enough to put him in the outside hutch when it is still this cold. :)

I hope to be getting the wood for our new chicken coop next week. :)

Have a great day.

I know the Peeps from the eastern side of the State have been traveling this way for the last couple of yrs and think that it would be nice of us from the West Central side to go east just a few miles.
