***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I'll be there after work so i should get there before 9:00.
BFrancis is coming but Kisa won't be coming with him. She is going to some really neat Garden and Herb show in Tulsa. I will have to go to that next year - herabalaffairandfestival.com
I will be there. Bringing LF cochin eggs, Ameraucana eggs and turkey eggs of course. Dispite the crazy weather the girl are doing okay with laying.
Did I hear LF Cochins!!!! Blue, black, Splash.
I have eggs. Going to break out the incubator this weekend.

Sounds good to me

Afternoon, Okies : )

I haven't been on the thread in about a week. School's winding down (which means students are all wound up), and I've managed to catch another cold, flu bug, or virus, so I'm feeling a bit peckish.

I'm looking forward to POOPS. It might just be me without grand kids this time. I've got a broodie sitting on a clutch of eggs right now, so if those little ones hatch before POOPS, I may be bringing them. They will be from the hens who get to free-range the most, so parentage may not be easy to determine.

Storms rocked Haskell last night. A lightning strike took out a house. We were worried that lightning was going to hit our place. We're on a hill, and we've had our electrical poles hit several times. The safety light in the yard was zapped last year, and the plastic housing melted and spewed all over the yard. The remnants looked like a UFO crash site. We've had a lot of tree limbs come down in the high winds. Looks like I'll be doing some cleaning up as soon as I get home tonight. I'm going to stay and grade the last stack of tests before I go home. Have a great evening, everyone : )
How many weeks do you have left of school? I have 5 left and counting the days down.

Ye.e.e.s.s.s....... I'll bring some to POOPS. I bought eggs at NewCastle that were from Bo's blue pens. Hatched some gorgeous Blue, Black and Splash cockerels. They have been paired with hens hatched from eggs I got from Jim Heinz from Iowa and from Carl's line. The girls are Blue and Splash. The chicks have been Blue, Black and Splash with nice wide heads and great feathering on their feet and tails.
Jim sent me this picture of the sister to my girls. She now belongs to Debs_flock and won Champion Asiatic March 30 at a show in California. He was sure pleased. Here is her photo. ....will have to add it from my computer...having trouble loading from my iPad.

I have a two girls who look just like that. She is beautiful!
Nana I think you deserve a small greenhouse or hoop house. I hate shuffling seedlings around.
The weather has really set back this yrs garden & building our house. The work crew is framing now, but I am not sure they will get it dried in before the next rain.

Who will be at Newcastle this wk? We are coming, bringing my sisters kids too. This will be my last auction before I get NPIP certification. I have held off for the past couple yrs, since I didn't want to limit my bird selection. But the desire to ship eggs has convinced us to get tested.
I will be there.

I'm going to try making it to Newcastle and will bring some single comb Wyandottes juveniles and some other roosters I don't need.
May wait and just bring a boatload on the 4th..... a lot depends on my chauffeur...hubby...and a particular heifer that is keeping her legs crossed.

Several folks have mentioned wanting pairs or trios of the Wyandottes or Cochins for POOPs so will start banding those in the morning.

We collected some morels today. Only found 8 but they weighed 12 ounces.

I had fully intended to come to Newcastle this weekend but have come down with a respiratory infection and just don't feel like catching birds and making the trip, we will probably come the first weekend in May, I should have some LF black and blue cochins; large barred rocks, toulouse geese, white faced black spanish and possibly some hatching eggs.

Still no new baby goats!!! We have lost our best dog, haven't seen any sign of her in 24 hours. She never runs alone, so I can only imagine what has happened to her. Will need another big mean dog to replace her. We have the 3 boys still, but she was by far the dog that kept the most visitors afraid to leave their cars & she was the most obedient dog we had.

Anyone in the Chickasha area window shopping has to check out the antique stores. One had an amazing collection of egg scales & old egg baskets. The prices were extreme, but the products were neat to look at. The store next door had a ceramic Cochin that was so cute & other chicken stuff throughout the store.

Everyone get out & enjoy the weather!!! Great day to build new chicken pens to add to your collections!!!

I've had a stubborn broody for about 2 1/2 weeks (11 month old BCM), Thursday I gave her three eggs that are "due" Sunday. Crossing my fingers she makes a good mom... this is the first time I've had a broody. Was going to move her last night to a nest on the floor but when I picked her up one of the eggs had pipped already so I decided it was better to leave her be... hope everything works out!
