What is it about big dogs thinking they are tiny, and tiny dogs thinking they are huge?????

They do all the time, dont they! My Yorkie, Coco, is over a year old and she was here first, so she is in charge of this Great Dane, Sadie, who has 45 lbs on her! Its quite a funny site to see the huge dog 'hide' under the sidetable from the little one.

Coco thinks she is part cat too, and so she perches on top of our chaise lounge and watches the chickens through the windows, so naturally Sadie has also tried this....not just once! lol Silly dogs.

MJ, no Channing the Serama doesn't care for the new rooster, i only stuck them together for a picture for a second. Channing's still my special boy though

Terri, I've never ever had luck with a broody. They keep wanting to sit all the time but when I've tried to put eggs under them they either give up the nest in a week or snakes get the eggs. Most my birds in purebred groups have all quit laying to molt but I'll give you all the Bantam Faverolles, Bantam Ameraucana or Spitzhauben eggs you want once they start up again!

All I ever used to have were giant breed dogs. Still not sure how i came to have a Chihuahua but she's sure easier to take places and feed

How often do all hens lay on the same day. I have 24 egg producers yesterday I received 24 eggs. I also have 14 Cornish x hens that lay every other day yesterday 5 eggs tomorrow 9 eggs.

You broody will probably sit on another 21 days of eggs. My Cochins, notoriously broody, will stay broody for about 6 weeks if they don't have sucessful hatches the first time. I have had hens take to moving nests about 1/2 the times I have had to move them.

I had 10 girls all broody at the same time at one point this Summer! I turned off my incubator. Broodies frustrate a lot of breeders but I love those silly girls. Course my bantams don't hurt when they peck. If I had standard hens it could get painful. I wish I could get more eggs but I have come to accept my Cochin girls moods. I just switch out their eggs with Ameraucana eggs. This next year it will be Blue Marans.

This is one of the males that came with my Silkies (to supposedly keep them warm in 95 degree heat). I had assumed they were RIR's and about 1/2 of have plain red feathers growing in. The other 1/2 looks like this so i think maybe they put 2 different breeds in there. Anyone know what breed this ?

Mitzi, you are such a sweetheart for offering, but unfortunately, I've had terrible luck the last two times I tried to hatch eggs. I used to be able to hatch them like no bodies business, but maybe I've lost my touch with old age. I'm not only bad at it, I also don't have any fertile eggs, although I'm sure I could come up with some with little effort. As a matter of fact, I am going to ask a friend for some Americana eggs, and if he has them, I will give the hen one more chance before she gets step chicks!
mjgigax 10 hens would be fun for sure! lol

Anyone have any experience with Black Copper Marans? About what age would they start developing red combs and wattles? And does a chicken lay an egg before she has a comb/wattles? (sorry for newbie ignorance!)

I am not positive on how old my BCM are, but they are over 3 months at least. I was thinking that they were 4 1/2 months old right now. I feel like all my chickens stopped growing.... :/
