***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Hi friends, say... If one was to be around your neck of the woods, could I find a buff naked neck, or a buff rock?

Maybe be able to make it to an auction?
Which would you recommend to make it memorable since I would be a one time thing.

Channing wants to say hi. We're in the RV, I'm supposed to be cleaning it so we can take it camping. Channing and the Chihuahua are going camping also

What a handsome guy! He looks like this is his official presidential portrait.

Hello!
Newcastile has the most birds these days.

Ksane, every time I see a picture of your beautiful Channing it makes me think of Chanticleer from the old children's story. He's gorgeous.

My husband and I really like the Newcastle Auction . First and third Sat. of the month . It is very clean and has lots of chickens , not alot of junk to sit thru . My husband likes it and really isn't into chickens , he enjoys the people there .

Happy to see Channing...he turned out to be a handsome guy. Seems you two were made for each other.

I want to let everyone know we (Sooner Serama Council) will have a traditional tabletop show (where birds are shown walking around on the table with no cage) Oct. 26 at Keystone Lake, North Loop B. Judging starts at 10:00...no admittance and will have hotdogs and soft drinks for lunch. Everybody welcome, with or without birds.

June! How nice to see your name! You gave me one of the best pets in my life when you gave me Channing. He calls you Aunt June, you know :) I love those little Seramas in the picture. Channing will only stand that way if i put my hand under his stomach though lol

Ksane       Channing is just the cutest thing !
It is pouring here in Newcastle , yeah !!    :)

Thank you, ladies :) He's a special special boy and I do adore him. I got him just 2 yrs ago but i can't seem to recall a time when he wasn't here.

I agree about Newcastle being the auction to go to. I've never seen so many birds there as last time! I hadn't been in about a year though so maybe they've been gradually getting bigger. So many awesome birds. I think the Blanchard auction is tonight, right? We got to the Blanchard one an hour late and still had to wait over an hour before the eggs and chicks came up. There was a ton of housewares, etc.

I have to say thank you to all you fabulous people for the helpful information and advice. I've been busy reading and digesting everything. The AI led to sexing, which led to sex-linked traits, which led to breeding and chromosomal divergence, which led to an uncomfortable realization: I'm afraid Shelbydog opened a terrible Pandora's Box. I lovelovelove my chickens as pets, but in college I got involved with genetics as an extra credit endeavor (lobsters and regenerative chromosomes) and thoroughly enjoyed it, but seriously, how in the world do you work with genetics as a hobby, right? RIGHT?! I mean, without having government entities in bodysuits fitted with rebreathers descending on your house and having your property described as a "compound" on national TV. Well, there's pea plants and puppies.... but no, separate they're overdone, and together the musical was already made.

The important points to remember here are 1) Thank you all for all your great help! 2) Blame Shelbydog.

question about pecking order:

How severe is it?

My chickens are casting out one of my hens, the youngest, though not the smallest. She is so scared of these other chickens that while they are inside coop she will be outside in the run, and she will try to run past them and their beaks as quick as possible when I let them out to free-range. Is this just normal behavior for the pecking order? I feel bad for the gal and want to protect her from the Mean Girls :/
