***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Wow! Robin those are beautiful babies! White is the original color of silkies and tends to pop up unexpectedly from time to time. Foot feathering is one thing that I've worked on and it really shows up these little ones. It is much too early to determine gender. As the crests are coming in, they often look back swept, but it changes as they fill in. I also think they sweep them back somewhat in the feeders and waterers. When they are more mature, the swept back "do" is a bit more accurate guess.

Edited again to confess I misunderstood what chickens bardies was referring to because it came right under Robin's babies.

I think Mio may have all boys, but the third one might be a girl. Can't really see it well enough.

Girls? I would have thought boys because of all of the comb showing and the direction of the head poof.
I was thinking the same thing... I could be wrong.. Obviously with the LF cochins I can not tell them apart. That or I have chickens taking trips to Utah to get sex changes..... At least I have 3 more great roosters now...

There are large numbers that go on the grill, most of the poorly colored bad comb structure toe, toe nail color etc. They still have a good body but considerable flaws that no one needs to add to a flock they get eaten, the decent but late or early birds often go to a sale.
But Carl!!! It would take two to make a taco....

mumbles on the left and amber- the stance is different and girls are rounded
Like cochins the females tend to be more squat and round....

I am so very excited about the Shawnee show... Even though this is like my 5th or 6th show, I get this way every year, just can't help it...

So as I have worked on my flock over the years the two main breeds Ameraucanas and LF Cochins, well and the turkeys.... I have had quite a variety over the years but these are my favs... I love the shows because I can talk to the breeders and learn more about the birds I love so much....

We are planning on being there at the show around 8 oclock Saturday and look forward to lunch with everyone... I will be wearing a POOPS shirt, not sure which one but may bring several to change out during the day...

One more day!!!!

humm....Now that i think back on it one of them went broody for a little bit so one is defiantly female and the roos wore out her feathers on her back and i tried to put a saddle on her but it wouldn't stay the other one the roos didn't see to pay attention to as much. i got them from a hatchery so they are not the best quality i was mainly looking for a incubator, when it order them.

can't wait till sat. also

Me and my daughter are soo excited about Saturday, I would love to meet you guys. What time do people usually get there? I'm trying to talk hubby into getting a room in Shawnee tomorrow night, but I don't think he is buying into it. We need a BYC table.

Do the hotels in Shawnee allow chickens in them, if so which ones?
