***OKIES in the BYC III ***

You know, I noticed that there were blue laced red wyandottes there at the show - they were gorgeous! - but I thought that they could not be shown yet as they were not accepted into standards. I must have been on the way to do something so I never bothered to look at the number or contact info on the exhibitor. So are non-accepted birds showable? I know that the silkies have 'all other varieties' but what about the wyandottes?

I asked the same thing when I saw Lavender Ameraucanas being shown. It was explained to me they could compete against each other for Best in Variety but could not compete for Best in Breed as they were not an accepted color. I guess that's how you get the word out about a new color variety until you have enough "critical mass" to hold a qualifying meet for acceptance into the APA's Standard of Perfection book.

I don't remember seeing lavendar ameraucanas

How can you say "Oh did you see????????" w/o pictures, it's like watching the food network!!!!!!

Been out moving birds around and settling everyone & did get some pictures of the birds I got yesterday but didn't even think to get any of the birds at the show. I can't believe I didn't get any of those.
I couldn't decide on whether to get Dark or White Laced Red Cornish from Charley so he picked me out a WLR pair and a Dark hen-I love love love their colors!

The Showgirl boy is seriously a Diva lol Very photogenic, too.

And I really like this Malay pair's personalities, super gentle and calm. He sounds like a cow mooing when he crows, I've never heard such a loud deep crow from a rooster before :-O He's molting and covered in pin feathers, this is one of the breeds that has bare spots on their breast and legs also. So he looks pretty prehistoric. I don't know enough about coloring to know if this girl is colored right or wrong or what, but I think her color is awesome. It's almost a black laced wheaten color. They look sort of mean but they're not a single bit mean or flighty at all.
