I buy mine at the local feed store.  Lees Feed on 11th and 193rd.     

I think last time I pd $15.00 for a 50 lb bag.    

I guess I'll have to make the trip out there, spent a lot of time looking at the Atwoods near me and they didn't have any

Farmers feed in sapulpa prices in 50 lb bags: whole wheat $11.50; cracked corn $8.60; whole oats $11.90; whole barley $15

I tried to post on the coop thread first and did not get any help. I know everyone here in the Okie thread is helpful, so I thought I'd try here. :0)

As for my neighborhood, it is a touchy situation. My direct neighbors do not care. I am sure they will love the free eggs (thanks for the advice!!) My extended neighbors care A LOT - at least some do. In our covenants it is stated we will not have chickens, however, since the covenants were never properly filed with the county they are actually null - but few people besides me know this because my hubby is the neighborhood president. SO, essentially, I can have them, but I don't want to complicate my life with a fight from the cranky lady across the street. (This is the same lady who complained about horse flies at her pool when her neighbor got a horse...)

In that case I would talk to the neighbors that don't have a problem with it, and forget Mrs. Cranky Pants for a bit!

If she lives across the street she may not notice, then once your flock is laying eggs, I would (in neighborly fashion!) bring her a nice dozen by way of introducing your new girls to her!!!!

As far as the coop thing I'm betting the others on this thread can offer more assistance than I can (We already had a HUGE coop on our property!)

I saw the oats, too. I read on the fermented feed thread that people had problems with the oats getting soggy and moldy when trying to sprout them though. Disappointed there's not something closer to me, I have a hard time convincing my kids to take a trip across town unless there's something in it for them haha.

Yes, my husband is the president. The covenants were never voted on and passed or filed with the county. Essentially, they do not gripe about the business being conducted on neighborhood property that is against the covenants, or the outbuildings that do not look like the houses that are against the covenants, or the other infractions - only chickens - and that is because I tried to do the right thing and get the covenant changed to allow them. Their argument (literally) was this, "It is a slippery slope! Chickens now, what next, a cow? A pig? A goat?"
