***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Yes mostly, sprouts are generally fed out at about 4 days, fodder to 7-8day range.

I think the chickens get as much benefit from the sprouts as the actual fodder, maybe even more depending on which site you believe. Sprouts are easiest in a sprouting bag, you can make it from burlap or just use thrift store pillow cases, or make bags from thrift store or old worn out sheets. Just soak over night in the bag, you don't need to rinse daily since the bag keeps things moist, then just invert the bag over a stick in the ground in the run and chickens can eat at their leisure all day, they will clean the bag off for you. I have posted a video on the sprouting thread it is the easiest way I have ever found.
ok, thanks for the info this is what i have looks like it smells like sour dough brad. would you feed it now or wait i forget when i started it.

Sourdough bread smell is the grains that haven't sprouted have fermented, all is good. I would feed it out personally.

Showgirl roo I just got from Ksane was a bit too big to go in with the paint silkies - neither roo would back down. So, he now has two girls of his own - both reg nn frizzles. I had told Cheyenne about your cool sizzle - so we will see. They (the girls) are not thrilled to be in a pen - but he is courting them as a gentleman. He is picking up pieces of stuff and dropping it for them, breaking up larger leaves into smaller bits for them. The dark one has paid attention a few times, but not for long. They just need to settle in - but the roo is doing well. He is actually larger than the smaller one. So, a big boy! Standard sized, I'd guess.

Here are some pics: This grey bird is a silkie/blue laced red Wyandotte cross.

These two are frizzle kids of the two frizzles I put with the showgirl. Their dad is the (splash) blue laced red Wyandotte.

Here is the showgirl next to the frizzle hens. They are together now in a shady area.

Sorry it is on its side, doh!

And..... couldn't help it. Our latest heifer, born the 29th - solid gold.

Alright guys I need help!!

I never know how 2 boys are going to do together. I've got 9 boys in one of the 50x50 yards-they all get along :-O I think boys do good when you put them in by pairs and there's only other boys. Trying to add a new rooster to an established rooster's harem doesn't sound like it would end well. Even if one would've backed down there's no guarantee the other wouldn't have kept pounding on him anyway. I'm sorry. But those NN Frizzles!! OMG-seriously those are cool! You just can't pass up a chance to breed that group together lol
I need to get a picture of my Silkie/Araucana mix, She has HUGE double tufts coming out of the side of her face, she's hilarious. I wonder what Frizzled NN's crossed with rumpless and tufted Araucana would look like.....
Here's the parents of the Blue eggs I gave you in case you wanted to hatch them. One can never have too many Easter Eggers :-D

And here's 2 chicks that hatched from them at 5 months old.

If it has a pea comb I bet it's a Dark Brahma. If it's a straight comb I bet it's a Gold Laced Cochin. I love both breeds!
I'm seriously going to bet on Dark Brahma-you'll love it!!

Not the greatest picture but not much comb to speak of. I really don't know the differences in combs in chicks.
:-/
It's a Dark Brahma-one of the sweetest and prettiest breeds there ever was lol (I'm a bit partial). Had you ordered pullets? The males are gorgeous also if it's a male.
