do you have chickens??
what kind?

what kind did you get?? they look cozy!

I got some spangled Russian Orloff pullets and two cockerels, a few Welsummer pullets, black minorca pullets, la fleche pullets, and some cream brabenters. I'll be keeping some and taking some to P.O.O.P.S.
Okay, so I was recently diagnosed with severe neuropathy in my legs. I was headed down the steps of my porch earlier and couldn't feel my right foot, and didn't realize that I couldn't feel it until I heard the grinding noise at the same time the foot twisted out from under me and the world did this weird flippy thingy. So there I was, lying in a pile of leaves, swearing loudly, and my dog came over, laid down in front of me, and started whimpering. She's such a good dog. Then I felt something pulling at my hair and Checkers, my Barred Rock, came around the top of my head and started crooning at me. She stood right there talking to me and picking leaves out of my hair until I managed to push myself up.

No breaks, just a severe sprain. I never imagined my chickens could surprise me so much more than they already have. It seems like they amaze me more every day.

I'm glad you are okay. What does the doctor say you should do to manage the neuropathy? Oh, and you need to teach Checkers to dial 911.
@Poco Pollo I just noticed something with Mr T(trouble) he is actually a friendly guy, i had assumed he was Captains son and dragons - but was looking at him and darned if he doesn't have silkie feet! So she must have been fence hopping, the only roo at the time other than captain was chester...

I went once, not really my thing, but awesome people watching opportunity. I went w/ my father and step mother so had to be reasonably sociable, would like to go back one time w/ just me and my camera, think it could be great photo op.
We didn't go last year, but I took grandkids the year before. Some of the performers get too raunchy for young audiences. I know they are playing to the "paying" customers, but they could tone it down a bit. Kass - I know you'd come back with some amazing candid photos if you're willing to search for costumed players who think they are unobserved. On my last visit I was kicking myself for not bringing my good camera. I missed shots like these: A jester sitting between two kitchen workers (in costume) at a wooden picnic table. The jester rolls his eyes as one kitchen worker tells the other a joke, and both the kitchen workers burst out laughing. Two swordsmen practice their routine in a shady spot. One halts the practice by holding up his left index finger. He reaches into his coin purse and pulls out his cell phone and answers it. His opponent sighs heavily and then pretends to stab himself in the chest (foil under left arm), and then he spins a few times and falls to the ground. Let me know if you decide to go. I may find an excuse to take the grandkids

If I am no better by Mond I am planning on calling the Dr
I've been skimming through the post to catch up a little. I must have missed the first post about u being so sick. U are funny. I used to br that way. Didn't see any Drs. for years and now I see more than I have my whole life.

If you need any thing or help (I know u have Gary) let me know and I will do my best to help. Somehow I have fallen into deep depression(I think that Dr, that wrote the best seller and was on Dr Oz and the Drs. is well, I shouldn'tsay, but he's given hormone shots I don't need and messed w/ my meds so much, I don't know where I am any more. Anyway, helping someone else always helps. Let me know if I can do anything, and yes go to the Dr. We don't want anything bad to happen to u. You are very loved by all of us here.

Always thinking of others and makling them feel beter.

It's so pretty out and I have been bed/sofa bound for so long I took a walk to the garden / baby chicks (only in the back yard a couple of hundred feet) not my best idea! Took quite a while to catch my breath and the world is still spinning.

Gary is feeling much better finally getting back to normal after the surgery. Has his week post surgery visit, the Dr said he is healing well but will be another month or so before we know how much (if any) help it will be for his sinus headaches.

Shelbydog - Your baby flock moved from the brooder house to a portable tractor today. They flew for the first ten minutes in their new enclosure.

The Basque hen juveniles now have access to their outside run. They stepped like Tennessee walkers for a long time, unable to reconcile the feel of pine shavings with the feel of dirt and grass. The two largest cockerels fell asleep in the sun. They looked like two best friends on vacation.

The goslings are now outside in an A-frame tractor. They swam in their water dish, so I put a tub in the pen and waited. They drank from the tub, called to the tub, and walked up and down the step. I brought the grand kids out to see the new gosling pool, and Mikaela was able to coax them into it. She jumped and flapped and told them to go swim.

Robin, I would dust the adult that the chick is in with and the shavings/bedding but not sure even *I would dust a week old chick. Not even sure about the bedding because the chick will eat it. Now Ivomec "Eprinex" does work excellent for mites or lice. But after my last go-round in trying to treat some new birds I do NOT trust regular Ivomec. The Ivomec Eprinex is a different ingredient. Frontline also works, that's what I use now and don't even waste time on anything else. You can order generic Frontline or even buy it at most Walmarts.
Kass, I hope you feel better soon.
Mikaela the swim coach! Hooray! And while I've got you here, Coral...I want you to know how much I adore these 4 adult capons I got from you!!!! They fit in 100% perfectly right from the start. They're so beautiful! I could sit in that yard all day watching the birds in that group and not get bored. Thank you so much for them :thumbsup

Just the most disgusting discovery was made, today, while we were volunteering. We had a freak job show up at our rescue group and she just right off the bat wanted to "buy" two of our adoptable shelter dogs, without petting them or getting to know anything about them. Something was up, because when we started asking questions, she panicked, and then left.

Well, we learned why, today. I cant really say why because there are children on this site, but it was.. horrible.

Coral, they put me on Gabapentin, just doubled the dosage. I was going to get back in the gym this week because no matter how much it hurts, the exercise will help, but I might have to put that off a day or two, now. ;) I'm doing stretches at my desk every hour. I have a followup in two weeks to discuss the next steps.

Cheryl, loved the pics of Bock Bock! We should do a series of photobomb shots. I have one of Bumpers!

My sweet little football, Van Helsing, was finally hobbling around okay, so I put him back outside in his pen. He was there for less than an hour when I heard a loud noise. He and Orlando were playing "Biggest Cockerel" again. So, here's a picture of my darling dufus. I think I should submit this photo to be listed as the image next to the phrase "cock-up" in the slang dictionary.
