Ksane, I had an OEGB hen a few years ago that scalped her chick, sounds almost exactly like your situation. The large wound was fresh (the entire top of the head), and I cleaned it then covered it with Neosporin and pulled the skin back up over as much as I could. Don't remember how i got it to stay up, but it turned out well. The loose skin took hold and new skin covered her head in a pretty short time. She never had any feathers on her head, but she grew up to be perfectly normal.

The paint silkie hen whose back and side were badly peeled is almost completely healed now and is laying at least every other day. I don't think feathers are going to grow, but the feathers on the edges of that HUGE wound are covering it unless you examine it.

I think yours has a good chance of normalcy.

Good luck!

For those of you who haven't gone to the Tulsa Zoo to see the dino's you really should they are way cool. Children (even grown ones) and Gchildren will love it. Here are a few pics I took there yesterday.

Does this one remind anyone of anyone? Maybe a bit smaller (for now), maybe with a few less feathers?!
I bet there is a sign somewhere that says: "Great ancestor of the VelociRudy"

Okay mushroom lovers, foragers, Nanakat, here is one for you guys to identify??????

Found these in the yard this morning. I didn't have time to take a pic then. This morning the were not dried at all, the stems were thick and plump, the cap was that black, but it was gooey, liquid, black. By the time I got home around noon thirty, the stems had dried to what you see, they black goo firmed up and solidified, the flies were very attracted to it, and it has a mildly unpleasant smell. (keep in mind what I do for a living, the smell may not have been mild to most, but didn't seem horrible to me) Any ideas?

They all move and make noise, even some of the babies. The eyes also move.
