My silkie girl goes broody if you look at her sideways. She'd sit on a nest outside in a blizzard in January. Sigh.

My showgirl roo Abraham. I'm not supposed to have a rooster but I made him a collar, so far it works well and I just love him! Never mind the interested kitty and mess in the background ;)

Amen. I have just as many broody now as I did during the spring and summer. All the ducks are on eggs, but if they aren't sneaky enough I get them..I had a duck get in the silky pen and she shared a nest w/ one. Her eggs are hatching staggered so poor Leah, my cochin/wyandotte cross has six of them w/ her three chicks. I guess I'm going to have to brood some ducklings, darn. I think I'm going to take the eggs, only two, from one muscovy hen and see if she'll take the ducklings Leah has. I'll tell u, I love these C/
W crosses. They seem to be the best chickens I've ever had. I don't know if it's just

@NanaKat 's line or if they are all this way. @Kassaundra
I hope you save your hatch.

Anybody interested in muscovy ducklings and hens? They seem to reproduce as much as rabbits

Check out this item that just showed up on a swap page on FB. Now that would be an epic coop with a little work at a reasonable price. It's out of my range right now, but thought you guys would like to imagine the possibilities too!

I may have had a hatching disaster. Went down to check on things and Reba was off the nest, which wasn't a great big deal, until I reached in an touched the eggs and they were ice cold, she had been off the nest for a while. She was on this morning, so not sure how long it had been, but several hours for sure. They were due to hatch tomorrow. They are in the bator now. We'll see how it goes. I'll candle later after they have a chance to warm. I'll give them a few extra days just in case.

Exactly what I would do...letting them warm up to room temperature before setting in the incubator doesn't shock them as much but not absolutely necessary .

Quote: Yes, I think so. They will even eat an egg that won't hatch to keep their nest clean when they are caged. I try to candle at day 7 and remove the yolkers.

You all are very sweet! My clumsy body will survive. He put me in a brace. We'll know the results of the MRI in a few days. I won't be waiting around to hear...plane leaves at 6:45 in the morning! Yes, I will wear the brace and use the crutches.

Bet you had to go thru the individual treatment at the airport if your are flying. My knee replacement sets off the machine every time.

Woot!!!! Woot!!! Glad to see you back online. Are you ready for winter weather? I hear it's a little colder in the northern part of our fair state.

Tire and Feed store. Sounds interesting.

So do you put four tires on an SUV and then ask if they want fifty pounds of corn chops with that?
