***OKIES in the BYC III ***

My large fowl and bantams molt at different times about a month apart. I'm getting half my LF eggs and the bantam count is up. The Cochins aren't laying at all. The Columbian Wyandotte pen is averaging 7 a day from 11 hens. My layer flock has dropped to 6 a day from 15 hens. The three Buckeye hens are laying 1 egg daily.

I just candled Quail eggs....had set 45...pulled 12 as clears.
Hatch this week included eggs from the White Wyandotte over the Columbian Wyandotte hens...I'm getting 50% barred chicks and the rest are three different down colored Columbian. I working on improving the combs and leg color on the Columbian. That is working...and the chicks are hefty little buggers.

Worked in the garden this week and have beds ready to plant tomorrow for fall/winter crops...carrots and turnips.

I have a friend needing to down size due to medical problems. He has about 20 young pair of BB Red Old English and 8 extra stag roos to sell. These are from Fields & Proctor, so if you know Old English, you know these are good birds.

Hello Tony O,
You are near me, I am just north of the Grand Casino outside of Grove. I would like to talk and find out more about a green house. I have five chickens which are plenty for me. lol

I don't know what I'd do if I only had 5 chickens. Guess I'd have to much time on my hands and get into trouble.

I'm gonna send you a PM a little later about the greenhouse.

So sorry!
I lost my old Mille Fleur Cochin hen the day I left for Michigan. She was one of my very first birds and was 8 years old.

Looking at her pic makes me wish I still had Mille Fleurs. :)
awww..... she was very pretty

sorry for everyones losses.

miohippus Is the pear tree a dwarf or a standard? The fruit looks like a "Moonglow" by shape and coloring. They usually ripen in August. The texture is very smooth or soft. It could be one of the parent stock in developing the graft.
If the texture is a little grainy, it could be the older variety named "Courtland". That variety was planted on many old farms because it was so reliable. Fruit ripens in September and October. Stores and cans well.
