***OKIES in the BYC III ***

If I were to ever have cattle, I'd be interested in Zebu, as well. I hear they turn out good meat, and I also hear interesting things about their milk being better for you than some of the other breeds. Something about A2 protein being easier to digest. Long way off for me, though. I'm also happy to have this as my home thread. Ya'll are the best, nicest, and most interesting group of folks I've come across.

Holy Moly!

She's a chunky pullet, for sure. She started laying Aug. 22. They've been medium to jumbo size, one double yolk so far. Never know what she'll do, but usually lays daily. This one is after she skipped a day, so I'm betting there's at least 2 yolks in there. I forgot to count chickens before I opened the nestbox lid. There she was laying this sucker! It was like I'd walked in on someone in the bathroom while they were going number two. I got growled at, but hardly blame her for being cross.

I half expected you to say she was drinking drinking a glass of wine in a bubble bath after that ostrich egg lol

I wish I could sit and pick your brain. All of your chickens, produce and canned/jarred foodstuffs are absolutely beautiful!

I ask her abut canning and some cooking. I've been known to cook but still not a canner. Thanks Nanakat your like a Nana that I call with questions about things I'm not to experienced with.
That's a good thing about this BYC. I don't face book and besides this I don't do internet but everyone not just Nanakat is very helpful here.

:hugs Love to help and share. And have found many great friends here too.

That pic shouldn't have been on here.

My latest chicks out of these random hens. And 2 breeds of roosters. 1 RIR and 2 Dark Cornish.

And she started setting right after the others hatched outta the incubator.

My big boy.

My little bantam that lays the same size egg as my Cornish.

I doubt I'm going to milk the Zebu's. I need to start milking my goat again. I was wanting to at least until I butcher the other pig to help fatten him up and she'd eat all that food that ends up just crushed and dumped out. But I leave for work occasionally for months at a time. In Michigan 800 miles away as of yesterday. Hard to keep up the schedule that way. And it's to much for the DW to do plus her regular job

My 24 Cornish chicks that turned into 17 with 4 hens.

The red one went into the pit last wkend. The other will go in next month with some of the cockrels for the wedding.
Still need to find someone to stay up all night feeding the fire.

all but to of my little roosters,

My new pit. Should get a pig and a goat every year.
